Ikura is a bit tired... / イクラはお疲れ。

Tara is facing his first moulting now and a couple of days ago he lost one of his tail feathers.
He was so curious and played with it for a while. Well, even Ikura was curious and came to pick it up!
Speaking of Ikura, he looks so tired from moulting now.
Today I put heating on his cage and so far he looks comfortable and keeps chatting.
After Namihei, my previous budgie passed away, I went to Kyoto to get lucky charms for her and a potential new one. Well, that is Ikura and he has got one for his cage.
You know, now Tara joins us, but I haven't got time to travel to Kyoto... guess what, a friend of mine went on a business trip to Kyoto and got one for Tara!
I'm sure Tara is happy to have got it.

ただいまヒナ換羽中のタラ、数日前に尾羽が抜けました。
とっても長い尾羽が気になるのか、しばらく抜けた尾羽と遊んでいました。イクラもタラちゃんの尾羽が気になったのか、寄ってきましたよ。
イクラも換羽中なのですが、ちょうど新しい羽が生えてくる時期なのか、とても疲れている様子。
今日はペットヒーターを設置してみたのですが、保温でだいぶ調子が戻ったようで、今もおしゃべりを続けています。
先代インコ、波平が亡くなったあと、インコのお守りを返納する目的で京都を訪れ、新しいものを２ついただいてきました（おかしな話かもしれませんが、１つは波平の遺骨と一緒に安置するため、もう１つはいずれお迎えするであろうインコのためでした。そしてこのお守りをもらうことになったのがイクラですね）。
タラをお迎えしたとき、京都まで行く時間もなく、いつか同じお守りを用意してあげたいとずっと思っていたのですが、なんと友人が京都に出張へ出かけた折にインコのお守りを手に入れてくれました。
これでようやくタラも満足してくれたに違いありません！

It's very important to be in good health. / 健康がいちばん。

It's very important to be in good health, and fortunately both Ikura and Tara are doing well. Okay, it's about me and I have got an upset tummy.
Actually I was suffering from the same problem last Sunday too. This time, I'm not sure what caused it, but perhaps some stress from work and I must have been tired from the annual health check-up on Friday.
I always try to be in good health, because I'm the one who can look after Ikura and Tara. I have got a responsibility to make them happy and their life more meaningful.
Tara has lost two flight feathers for a week. This is the sign that his first moulting started. I really hope he won't be so grumpy... you know, he is already grumpy enough!
As for Ikura, he is also facing moulting period now and looks a bit miserable.

健康はとても大切ですね。幸い、イクラとタラは元気にしています。問題は、飼い主である私。腹痛に苦しんでいます。
思えば先週の日曜日も腹痛に苦しんだ１日でした。今回は、仕事のストレスに過敏に反応してしまったのか、あるいは金曜日に受診した健康診断の疲れか…。金曜日からずっと不調が続いていて、自分でもかわいそうだと思ってしまうほど。
健康にはとても気を遣っているつもりです。というのも、私がいなかったら、イクラとタラのお世話はどうなるのでしょうか？ふたりが幸せに、有意義な鳥生を送ることができるようにお世話をする責任がありますからね。
タラはこの１週間で風切羽根が２枚抜けました。いよいよ本格的なヒナ換羽に突入でしょうか。すでに機嫌の悪いタラ。換羽でこれ以上悪くならないといいのですが…。
イクラはすでに換羽中で顔周りがツクツクしていて、なんだかみすぼらしい姿になってしまってます。

Getting to know you... / 縮まる距離。

Ikura and Tara both are facing moulting, but they're doing well.
Plus Tara is also practising to talk and it seems that he tries to copy Ikura. So he keeps saying "Ikura", though his name is "Tara". ha ha
They chase each other and when they get tired, they come to me to rest for a while.
By the way yesterday morning when I called Ikura and Tara when I woke up, Ikura replied with saying "hai" in the dark. Don't you think he is so smart?
Well, he kept silent this morning though.

 イクラもタラもただいま絶賛換羽中となりました。でもふたりとも元気にしています。
タラはおしゃべりの練習に力を入れていますが、どうやらイクラのまねをしているようなんです。「イクラ、イクラ」としきりに言っていますが、自分の名前が「タラ」だということに気がついているんでしょうか（笑）。
そして追いかけっこが止まらないんです。疲れると私のところにきてしばらく休むふたりです。
そういえば昨日の朝、起きたときに「イクラちゃん、タラちゃん」と呼びかけたんです。そうしたら、イクラが暗がりで、「はい」と返事をしてくれました。とっても優秀だと思うのですが、今朝は応答がありませんでした…。

Ikura and Tara / イクラとタラ

Since last Sunday Ikura and Tara have been together (they have got their own cages each, but they can stay in the same room and play together).
So far they're doing well. They're not good friends yet, but I'm sure they will in the end. You know, it just takes time.
Perhaps because of chatty Ikura, Tara can say some words, including his name, "Tara". But mostly he is a good listener while Ikura keeps chatting.
It's very fun to watch them play together and I believe that I have made a right decision to welcome Tara.
Their adventure just began and I'll keep watching them!

タラの隔離生活が終わり、イクラと一緒に過ごせるようになって１週間が経ちました。それぞれ別々のケージで過ごしてはいるものの、つねに隣同士で1日を過ごしています。
今のところ、ふたりともうまくやっているのかな、という気がします。もちろん仲良しの友だちという感じではまだないものの、時間が経つにつれて、きっとこのふたりは仲良しコンビになると確信しています。
おしゃべりなイクラのおかげか、タラも少しずつおしゃべりを始め、「タラちゃん」とも言えるようになりました。ただ、タラは声が小さい上、イクラの演説が始まってしまうと聞き手に回るしかないようですが（笑）。
ふたりが一緒に遊ぶ姿を見るのはとても楽しいです。タラをお迎えして、本当によかったと思っています。
ふたりの冒険はまだ始まったばかり。これからも温かく見守っていきたいと思います。
