Ikura and Tara debut! / 小鳥のキモチ、イクラとタラのキモチ

Ikura and Tara got interviewed for a magazine a couple of months ago and it was published today!
This is the same magazine in which Namihei was last year.
I wasn't able to have a look at the magazine with Namihei last year, but this time, I'm so happy that all of us can check the magazine together.
Well, I'm quite sure that Namihei is peeping from somewhere though.
Hmm... it's quite interesting to see photos of Ikura and Tara taken by someone else. You know, the style is obviously different and the quality must be far better than mine. But I'm confident that I can get a better look from them, because I've got a special bond with them!

本日発売となった学研ムック『小鳥のキモチ vol.7』。
鳥好きさんであれば手にとったことがある本でしょうか？
昨年発売となった号で波平が取材を受け、今回またご縁があり、以前取材に来てくださった方がイクラとタラに会いに来てくれました。
波平とは一緒に見ることができなかった記事。今回はイクラとタラとみんなで出来上がった記事を見ることができて、とてもうれしいです。
取材中、イクラはずっと取材のお姉さんの肩の上でくつろぎ、タラはお姉さんにおもちゃで遊んでもらい、私はほぼ蚊帳の外状態でした（笑）。
プロのカメラマンに撮られるイクラとタラは、なんだか別人ならぬ別鳥に見えます。技術でははるかに劣るものの、やはり飼い主だけに見せる表情は、私にしか撮れない…なんて思うのはおごりでしょうか…。

Bird Life Adviser / バードライフアドバイザー

This weekend I attended a two day seminar on companion birds held by a nonprofit organisation which rescues companion birds.
I was planning to attend it this February, but worried about Ikura and didn't want to let him alone.
This time Ikura is not alone. He has got Tara. Plus my mum quit her job and she is at home. It was the best timing, and after attending the seminar, I feel good.
What did I learn? We learned avian behaviour, avian diseases, how to look after sick birds, and so on.
I always think of happiness for Ikura and Tara, but from now on I'd like to think of every companion bird's happiness too.

この週末２日間、バードライフアドバイザー２級の講座を受講してきました。
ご存知の方も多いと思いますが、飼い鳥さんのためにさまざまな活動をされているNPO法人のTSUBASAさんが認定している講座です（TSUBASAさんのことをお知りになりたい方はぜひ、ネットで検索してみてくださいね）。
じつは今年２月にも申し込んだもののキャンセルした経緯があります。
この時は、イクラを週末ずっとひとりぼっちでお留守番させたくなかった、というのが理由でした。
今回は心強い仲間のタラの存在と、夏で退職して家にいることの多い母の存在があり、思い切って受講することができました。
２日間みっちり学んで、疲労感たっぷりですが、とても有意義な２日間でしたよ。飼い鳥の行動学、栄養学、看護、感染症をはじめ、野鳥のことや動物に関わる法律の話もありました。
いつも願っているのはイクラとタラの幸せです。でも、これからはふたりに加え、すべての愛鳥さんの幸せを願って、何かしていけたらいいな、と思いました。

Let's do foraging! / ごはんを探そう！

A  busy bird is a happy bird. If a budgie gets bored, it causes a lot of problems.
This is why I have to keep Ikura and Tara busy all the time.
Foraging toys are very useful, I think. Unfortunately Ikura is not so good at playing with such toys though.
I can see a clear difference between Ikura and Tara.
Ikura is a bit slow and he's not sure what he has to do. As for Tara, he is so quick and does something about the situation.
Ikura finally learns what to do from Tara and then he follows him in the end.
So... I think they help each other somehow!

忙しい鳥は幸せな鳥。インコがひまを持て余すと、そこからいろいろなトラブルが生じます。だからこそ、私の使命はイクラとタラを常に忙しい鳥にすることです。
フォージングトイはこんな時にとても便利ですね。
でも、残念ながらイクラはフォージングトイがあまり得意ではありません。
イクラとタラの明らかな違いが、こんなときにわかるんですね。
イクラはちょっと鈍臭いタイプで、どうしたらいいかわからずにいます。
タラはというと、すぐに事態を把握して、問題解決のために策を講じます。
イクラはそんなタラを見てようやく何をしたらいいのか学び、やがて一緒に遊びに参加することができます。
だから、きっといろんな意味でふたりは助け合っているのですね。

When we are together... / 一緒にいると…

I welcomed Tara this April, but because he was under treatment for a month and spent his time alone in another room, he finally started playing with Ikura around the end of May.
I was looking back at the photos of Ikura and Tara I took over the weekend, and I noticed a lot of change in both of them.
Well, why am I doing this? I want to make a photo album of them and also a calendar of the next year with their lovely photos.
I once had a passion in photography when I was with Namihei, and I did join a photo exhibition twice. But after she left me, this passion also left me.
I promised myself that I would treat a new friend like Namihei when I welcomed Ikura. And now Tara is also with me, so I believe it's time to do something, and decided to make a photo album first. The theme is "being together". I really hope I can show it here as soon as possible!

 タラをお迎えしたのが今年の４月。メガバク治療で１カ月隔離生活があったので、イクラと一緒に過ごすようになったのは５月末になってからでした。
この週末、ひたすら今まで撮ったイクラとタラの写真を見返していました。
見返していくと、ふたりの変化がすごくよくわかります。
この時期になると大掃除を意識して、断捨離してみたり、こうしてデータ整理をしたくなるものですね。
今回は、来年のカレンダー作りのためと、そろそろフォトアルバムを作ろうかと思って見返していました。
波平と一緒にいた頃は、写真熱がすごくあって、実際写真展にも２度参加しました。雑誌にも取り上げていただいたりと順風満帆のように思えたものの、波平が去り、同時にこの写真熱も去った気がします。
イクラをお迎えする時、新しい子も波平にしてあげたことと同じことをすると自分に約束していました。そして今、タラも一緒にいます。だからそろそろ、同じことをしたくて、フォトアルバム作成を決心しました。テーマは「一緒にいること」です。あえてツーショットだけのフォトアルバムを作成予定です。出来上がったらこちらでも紹介させていただきますね。

Because I want to be with you. / これからも一緒にいたいから。

In my room I keep a space for Namihei, who passed away after fighting cancer last summer. I'm not a religious person, and some people may think I'm crazy, but I keep her cremation urn as well.
Well, I bought a lovely pink one a couple of months ago and I was wondering when would be the ideal time to move cremains to this new one.
It was my birthday yesterday and I thought it would be the right day to do it. I also washed her moulting feathers with neutral detergent too. I didn't do it when I collected them, so now they're clean enough to keep, right?
I made a bit change of the memorial place for her and it seems that Ikura and Tara loved it, and they know the pink pod is the place to talk to Namihei.

昨年夏にガン闘病の末に亡くなった波平。なみちゃんがよく遊んでいた場所を、波平コーナーとして、今でも残しています。
びっくりされる方もいるかもしれませんが、なみちゃんの遺骨も一緒にそこに置いています。
これからもずっと一緒にいたいから…数ヶ月前に女の子らしい桜色の遺骨入れを購入しました。ただ、いつ移動するのが良いのかわからず、数カ月が経ってしまったのですが、昨日は私の誕生日。この日だ、とようやく思えて、ついに遺骨を移しました。
ついでに急に思い立って、保管していた羽根を洗いました（ネット検索で中性洗剤がよいとありましたよ）。
波平コーナーもきれいに掃除して、またこれからも一緒にいられると感じられました。
イクラとタラもこの模様替えを好意的に受け止めているようで、ふたりでくつろぎ始めました。そして、イクラは迷いもなく桜色のポットにちゃんと話しかけていましたよ。
