Warmth of Namihei / 波平のぬくもり

A budgie's body temperature is higher than that of a human.
Last night Namihei wanted to hang around me and spent time on my arm. So I could feel her warmth from her legs. Well, it's very warm and quite comfortable! Perhaps I can use Namihei as a warmer in winter. No need to charge, you know! At least, she eats seeds a lot... because I was thinking about it, I had a dream about her!

インコの体温は人間よりも高いんです。
昨晩、波平は私のそばにいたかったようで（珍しく！）、腕に乗って遊んでいました。なみちゃんの脚から、ぬくもりが伝わってきて、それがとっても温かくて、気持ちが良かったんです。きっと冬にはなみちゃんをウォーマーとして使えるかも。しかも充電なんて必要ないですし！あ、でもなみちゃん、シードをたくさん食べる必要がありますが…。そんなことを考えていたせいか、なみちゃんの夢を見てしまいました（笑）。

Pattern of Namihei's Behaviour / 波平の行動パターン

Now I can tell the pattern of Namihei's behaviour. When I read a book lying down on my bed, she comes to bother me with gnawing for a while, and then she lets me go and starts dozing off near me.
When I read a book at my desk, she doesn't bother me and starts taking a nap straight away next to me.
And when I watch films or comedy shows, she hangs around my bookshelf and enjoys breaking something there.
Of course, when I starts eating something, she will start eating her meal!

波平の行動パターンのご紹介。
ベッドで横になって本を読んでいると、ガジガジしてお邪魔攻撃を仕掛けてきます。それが一通り終わると、そばにあるお休み止まり木で居眠りを始めるなみちゃん。
机で本を読んでいれば、特にお邪魔攻撃もなく、すぐに隣にあるロープの上でお昼寝をします。
そして、映画鑑賞を始めれば、なみちゃんは本棚で物色を始め、破壊行動を大いに楽しみます。
もちろん、私が何かを食べ始めると、なみちゃんも自分のご飯を食べ始めますよ！

How to train Namihei / 波平のしつけ

I've heard that a budgie can be trained well. For example, we can teach them where they should leave poo... so can I teach Namihei where is her loo?! So far she thinks everywhere is her loo area though.
To be honest, I must admit that I failed to train her well. Namihei is like an outlaw and she doesn't listen to anyone!
At least, this is why it's so interesting to watch her though.

インコはちゃんとしつけできるそうです。例えば、放鳥中にどこでフンをする場所なんかもしつけできるそうですよ。波平の場合はといえば、どこでも落としていきますし、私の部屋全体、どこでもなみちゃんの移動トイレみたいなことになっていますが…。
正直なところ、なみちゃんのしつけは失敗に終わっている気がします。なみちゃんはどちらかといえばアウトローで、誰の言うことも聞きません。だからこそ、見ていておもしろいんですけどね！

My precious!!! / 波平のお気に入り

Last night Namihei escaped to the living room from my room. Well, I know where she wants to hang around there. First of all, her favourite place is a dishwasher. She wants to stay on it. And then around a tap. She slips from my hand and goes either place.
Hmm... what is the link between them? I can tell it now. They're both silver and shiny. I think Namihei likes shiny things, like crows... Actually she likes to stay on the silver door knob in my room too.
When I want to catch her, I should something shiny to lure her. 

昨晩、波平が私の部屋からリビングへ脱走しました。なみちゃんがどこに行きたいかはわかってるんです。まず、食洗器。この上でくつろぐのが好きなようです。そして、蛇口の上。私の手からすり抜けて、どちらかに逃げていくわけです。
この２つの場所の共通点はというと、銀色で光っていること。どうやらカラスと同様、光るものが好きなようです。
確かに私の部屋でも銀色のドアノブの上でくつろぐのが好きですね。
なみちゃんを捕まえるときは、光るものでおびき寄せるのが良い方法ですね、きっと。

Namihei's Romance / 波平の恋の季節

Namihei will become 1 year old this summer, so she is sort of a teenager now, I suppose.
And now I can tell she has a crush on a budgie key ring attached to my mobile phone.
Unfortunately it seems that she thinks nothing of me. Erm... does she think I'm her mum?! I rather feel that I'm her humble servant though. Yes, my lady!
Anyway, she is very emotional now, so I really have to be careful with her.

波平はこの夏で１歳になります。ということは、今は10代といったところでしょうか。
なみちゃん、私の携帯電話についているインコのマスコットに一目ぼれ中です。
悲しいことに、飼い主のことは眼中にないようですが、お母さんのような存在だと思ってくれているのでしょうか。ま、私は従順な召使のような気分ですが。ね、なみお嬢様！
今は感情が高ぶっているとき。なみちゃんへの接し方は十分に気をつけないといけませんね。

History Repeats Itself / 歴史は繰り返す

When I was a kid, my dad brought a chubby rosy-faced lovebird. Well, I asked him a cockatiel, so I complained to him. But he said this lovebird had convinced him enough with giving a "try me" look. Dad looked very happy too and even suggested to name the bird "Ponta". I really thought he had poor taste... (my name was given by my grandpa)
Well, actually I got well with Ponta and we spent 16 years together.
And now Namihei... okay, I was thinking of the name very seriously, but only came out from my tiny brain, Namihei. I admit that I've got poor taste as well! Perhaps it came from my dad's side.

 子供の頃、父が連れてきたのは太った小桜インコでした。頼んだのはオカメインコだったのに、父が言うには、この小桜インコが猛烈アピールをしてきたとのこと。父はうれしそうに、名前は「ポンタ」にしようとまで決めてしまう始末。インコにポンタって…センスない、と思ったものです。ちなみに私自身の名前は、祖父がつけてくれました。
ポンタとは16年一緒に過ごしました。
そして今、波平。いや、結構真剣に考えた末に、私の小さな脳みそから出てきたのが「波平」。私もセンスないですね。おそらく、父から譲り受けた負の遺産です（笑）。

From Namihei with Love / 波平より愛をこめて

Look at this innocent girl (budgie)! I took this photo when Namihei just came to my house last autumn. Now that innocent budgie is gone...
Namihei leaves her gift everywhere and sometimes it's hidden well and I find it days later.
Well, I'm not talking about her "love
", as you may already realise it. Yes, I'm talking about her "poo" or her "dust".
Last night I found some dust she made with gnawing strings in a box where I keep my hair dryer. Well done, young rascal, Namihei...
At least, nobody says "You have got a shit on your back" with pointing me at work anymore!

この無邪気な姿。この写真は、昨年秋に波平が我が家に来たばかりの頃に撮ったものです。この無邪気さはどこへ行ったのやら。
なみちゃん、いろんなところに贈り物を置いて行ってくれます。たまにうまく隠されていて、数日後に見つけることも。
すでにお気づきだと思いますが、なみちゃんの愛情の話をしているわけではなく、落し物（フン）や散らかしたゴミの話をしているわけです。
昨晩、ドライヤーを保管している箱からなみちゃんがかじったひものカスが大量に発見されました。やるね、いたずらっ子、波平…。
少なくとも、職場で指さされて、「後ろにフンがついてるよ！」なんて言われることはなくなりましたけどね！

Namihei needs something / 波平のおもちゃ

Namihei has to stay at home alone while I work outside. So she needs something to spend plenty of time by herself.
This is why I buy many toys for her and sometimes I make something she can peck as well.
Last weekend I went to a shop to buy a new toy. Well, this is a huge shop where most of things we can buy for birds!
I spent time to choose a good one, but guess what, I bought exactly the same one as she already had... Perhaps she won't mind it, as she is quite picky. So far, I know she likes strings. Hmm... I should make something for her then.

私が仕事している間、波平はひとりお留守番。たくさんの時間をひとりで過ごすためには何か必要です。
そんなわけでよくおもちゃを買い与えたり、ガジガジできるものを作ってあげたりするわけです。
先週末、トリ専門店（鳥に関するものほとんどこのお店で揃えることができるんですよ）へ、なみちゃんの新しいおもちゃを買いに行ってきました。時間をかけてじっくり選んで買ったものは、なんとなみちゃんがすでに遊んでいるおもちゃと同じものでした…。たぶん、気にしないと思うんですけどね。だって、なみちゃんは好みがうるさいですから。今のところ、何かひも状のものが好きってことはわかっているんですけど。それじゃ、何か作ってあげましょうかね。

Chubby, Clumsy, Namihei / 太っちょでおっちょこちょいな波平

Everybody knows that Namihei is chubby and clumsy!
Yesterday she dropped from a perch. Well, she dived to me and she couldn't control herself. Let me tell you, she wanted to attack my finger and failed.
Then she was playing with a clothes-peg in my room. And she got her leg caught in the peg and started crying. No worries, she was uninjured! But she was licking her leg with mumbling for a while. I removed all of the clothes-pegs in my room for my chubby, clumsy Namihei.

 波平が太っちょで、おっちょこちょいなのはご存知だと思いますが。
昨日、止まり木から落ちました。私に突進しようとして、勢いが止まらなかったようです。ちなみに、指をかじろうとして、突進してたんですけどね。
そして今度は、洗濯バサミで遊んでいたと思ったら、脚を挟んでしまって絶叫！怪我はなかったのでご心配なく。でも、脚をなめながら、しばらくブツブツ言ってました。その後、部屋にあった洗濯バサミはすべて撤去しました。かわいい太っちょ・おっちょこちょいのなみちゃんのために！

I've got a friend! / 友だちができた波平

Namihei has got a friend. Actually it wasn't true. It wasn't easy to take such a photo where they look happy together...
I've got this budgie plushie to make it a reporter outside on behalf of Namihei. You know, I can't take Namihei outside without her cage!
At first, Namihei was so scared of this  Namihei II and didn't want to come close to her nemesis. Then she did a sneak attack on it.
Anyway, this Namihei II... don't you think it looks like real Namihei?

 波平に友だちができました。というのは嘘で、こんな仲良し写真を撮るのにずいぶん苦労しました。
このマスコットを購入したのは、お出かけの際、レポーターとして写真の中に入れたかったからなんです。なみちゃんじゃ、ケージなしでお外に連れて行けませんからね！
最初は怖がって、波平２世に近づけなかったなみちゃんですが、やがて奇襲攻撃をかけてきました。それにしても、この波平２世、本物に結構似てますよね？

Where are you? Follow me! / どこ？ ついて来て！

 Last night I came back late, because of overtime work. So after I let Namihei out of her cage in my room, I went to the living room to have ice cream. Yes, I deserved it!
Namihei started shouting like "Oi, where did you go? Where are you?"
Then guess what, she came flying to me in the living room! I was shocked and to be honest, a bit panicked. Once she saw I was trying to go back, she satisfied and flied back to my room. Yes, she was like a prefect, saying "Follow me! Hurry up, please!" All right, but let me finish my ice cream...

昨晩、残業で帰りが遅くなったので、まず波平を私の部屋で放鳥し、居間に戻ってアイスを食べてました。残業疲れで甘いものが欲しかったんです！
波平がまるで「どこ行ったの？」と言っているかのように、発狂した声で鳴いているのはわかってました。でもアイスを食べ続ける飼い主（笑）。
そしてなんと、なみちゃんが部屋から全速力で居間にいる私の頭をめがけて飛んできたんです！驚きました。正直、飼い主の方がちょっとパニック気味。焦って帰るそぶりを見せると、それに満足したなみちゃんはまた全速力で部屋に戻って行きました。
まるで、寮の監督生のように、「はやく！ちゃんとついてきてね」と言っているようでした。アイスを食べ終わったら戻るからね…。

Namihei Mart / 波平マート

Always Fresh! Welcome to Namihei Mart!
What am I talking about? Look at Namihei on the photo! Yes, she is putting in the seeds selected by her! Well, she does it when she sees me around her, so I'm sure she thinks I'm a potential customer...
By the way, I have never stolen nor bought her seeds from her though!
Oh, I know she opened her shop before 5 o'clock this morning, as her putting woke me up...close it!

 いつでも新鮮、波平マートへようこそ！
この上の写真、見てください。なみちゃんはえさ箱の上にシードを並べて、お店ごっこです。私がおそらくお客さん役なんだと思うのですが（笑）。でも、シードを盗ったり、ましてやなみちゃんから買ったこともないんですけどね。
今朝は、5時前にお店の準備を始めたようで、その音で起こされました。なみちゃん、お店はもうたたんでいいよ！

Pimple Picking! / 吹き出物ピッキング！

I have got some pimples on my face. Why? I suppose they appeared because of stress at work. And I admit that I ate too much sweets and snack. But you know, "stress" brought this habit!
Anyway, Namihei loves pecking my pimples. I can see her excitement in her eyes when she looks at my face. If she has healing power, yes, I will let her peck them. But I think she is making them worse... I hope she will stop pimple picking.

仕事のストレスで、顔に吹き出物ができました。いや、お菓子の食べ過ぎが原因かもしれません。でも、この習慣だって、仕事のストレスからくるものですね？！
波平は私の吹き出物をついばむのが楽しくて仕方ないようです。私の顔を眺めているとき、なみちゃんの「わくわく感」が目力に表れていますからね。もしなみちゃんに吹き出物を改善する癒しパワーがあるなら、ツンツンさせてもいいのですが、どう考えても、吹き出物の状態は悪くなっている気が…。お願いだから、吹き出物ピックはやめてほしいです。

Don't ignore me! / ムシしないで！

Sometimes Namihei keeps something I don't want. For example, she quite often attacks my fingers and it's so painful.
I know she wants attention from me, but it's too much.
Last night I finally got angry with her and started ignoring her.
She noticed something wrong and tried to come to me a lot. And then she kept cooing. She was so cute and of course, I forgave her in the end!

波平がいやがらせをしてくることはよくあります。たとえば、指にくらいついてきて離れなかったり。とっても痛いです。
たぶん、自分に注目してほしくてこういう迷惑行為をしてくるのだとは思いますが、被害者はたまりません！
昨晩、とうとう怒ってなみちゃんのことを無視し始めました。それに気がついたなみちゃん。やたらとついてこようとしたり、ついには甘いささやき攻撃をする始末。あまりにもかわいくて、もちろん最後にはゆるしてあげましたよ！

Namihei with Gremlins / グレムリン、波平

 Namihei is indeed a young rascal and she often disturbs me. Of course, I still love her though!
Well, look at this photo. Don't you think she looks a bit devil? Did I break any promise to keep her well? The shop where I took Namiei didn't mention such important things though.
Wait... I remembered one of the shop staff told me that Namihei had come to the shop by mistake...so she was waiting for an opportunity?! I really have to be careful with her!

波平は本当にいたずらっ子で、よく悩まされます。もちろん、そんななみちゃんが大好きですけどね。
でも、この羽ばたく写真を見てください。なんだか悪魔が乗り移っているように見えませんか（笑）？！なみちゃんと一緒に暮らす上での約束を破ったのでしょうか？そもそも、ペットショップでそんなことは言われなかったはずです。
でも…思い出したのですが、店員さんの１人が、なみちゃんは間違えてお店にやってきてしまったと言ってました。もしかしてなみちゃん、機会をうかがっているのでしょうか？！これからはなみちゃんに気をつけねば…。

Don't bother me! / 波平の嫌がらせ

When I'm listening to radio on my laptop, it stops frequently. Why? Because Namihei often presses "pause" somehow!
When I'm chatting with someone on my iPhone, I have to be careful. Why? Because she sometimes sends an improper message!
Yes, when a friend of mine apologised me on the chat app, LINE, she sent stamp showing angry rabbit saying "No"... Namihei, you're so mean, aren't you?!

 ノートパソコンでラジオを聴いていると、よく音が途切れます　なぜか。それは、波平がよく一時停止ボタンを押してしまうからです。
スマホで誰かとチャットしているときは、要注意です。なぜか。それは、なみちゃんが不適切なメッセージを送ってしまうことがあるからです。
LINEで友人が「ごめんね」と謝っているメッセージに、なみちゃんが送ってしまったのは、コニー（うさぎ）が怒って「NO!」と言っているスタンプ。なみちゃん、結構意地悪じゃないですか？！

太ったアジ / A Chubby Fish

Last night I was watching a cookery programme on TV whilst having supper. Well, I saw a chubby fish, Japanese horse mackerel, on it and thought that it exactly what Namihei looked like!
Of course, Namihei is a budgie and she can fly well, but look at her belly... but you know, somehow it attracts me and actually I love penguins too. Perhaps because I can find a similarity between me and them, I mean "fatness"? Yeah, I know we all need "fitness" now!

昨晩、夕食時に見ていた料理番組に登場した太ったアジ（駿河湾で獲れる高級品です）。これを見た瞬間、まさに「あ、波平」と思ってしまいました。
もちろん、インコのなみちゃん、ちゃんと飛べます。でも、お腹がちょっと…
どうしてですかね、太っててもインコはかわいいですし、私はペンギンも大好きです。もしかして、そこに自分との共通性（太っちょ）を見いだせるからでしょうか（笑）。わかってます、「寸胴」じゃなくって、「運動」が必要だってことは！
