It's My Birthday! / 波平、お誕生日おめでとう

Namihei is 1 year old now. She came to my house on the 3rd of October. She was born around around mid-August last year, so yes, it's her birthday today!
Because I'm with her every day, I didn't realise how she had changed! I have put two photos of her. One was taken yesterday and the other one was last October. Well, the old one showed a pure baby budgie... and now look at her! She must have learned how to survive in my house. ha ha
Of course, I will always love you, Namihei!

波平は１歳になりました。なみちゃんが我が家に来たのが昨年の10月３日。生まれたのは昨年の8月中旬頃らしいので、今日がなみちゃんの誕生日です！
いつも一緒にいるせいか、なみちゃんの変化に気づいていませんでした。２枚写真をアップしていますが、１枚は昨年10月に撮影、もう１枚は昨日撮影しました。古い写真にいるなみちゃんは、ピュアですよね、ピュア！それに比べて今のなみちゃんは、なんというか、生きる力を身につけた感じでしょうか（笑）。
もちろん、いつもなみちゃんのことが大好きですよ！

True Girl, Namihei / 波平、女子力アップ

Namihei is a girl budgie and she often take time to groom herself. Of course, I shouldn't disturb her, as she will get so angry with me!
Well, she also needs to file her nails too... they are too long now and a couple of days ago, she was stuck on my bed, because her one nail was caught. I'll take her to a clinic this weekend for health check up and cut her nails. Then she will become a true girl!

波平は女子です。毛づくろいにも余念がありません。毛づくろい中に邪魔でもしたら、なみちゃんの怒り爆発です。
そんな女子力高めのなみちゃんですが、そろそろ爪のお手入れもしないといけないようです。数日前、伸びすぎた爪が私のベッドパットにひっかかり、捕獲状態になっていました。週末になみちゃんを健康診断で病院へ連れて行く予定なのですが、爪も切ってもらわないといけませんね。そして、ようやく真の女子ですよ、なみちゃん！

Namihei Growing Up Story / 波平の成長物語

I've decided that Namihei's birthday is August 15. Well, I was just told that Namihei must have been born around middle of August when I took her from a shop. So, she will become 1 year old soon and I can say she has grown up a lot. And she has learned a lot of things as well. Oh, I cannot say if it means good or bad, but anyway, at least she knows the meaning of life (of budgie), I think!
Recently she often makes weird noises and it sounds like she is complaining about something to me. I hope her life is comfortable enough in my house though!

波平の誕生日は8月15日、と勝手に決めさせていただきました。というのも、ショップでなみちゃんをお迎えした際、生まれたのはだいたい8月中旬です、としか言われなかったんです。大切なインコちゃんの誕生日、とっても重要ですけど。
というわけで、まもなく１歳になるなみちゃんですが、ずいぶんと成長した感があります。そして、いろんなことを学んだようにも見えます。もちろん、それがいいか悪いかというのは言えませんが、少なくとも、インコなりの人生の意味をわかっているのではないでしょうか（笑）。
最近、またいろんな変な鳴き声を出しているなみちゃんですが、どうも私に何か不満を訴えているようでなりません。我が家での生活が快適だといいのですが！

Cuttlebone / カトルボーン

Do you know "Cuttlebone"? Since it contains calcium, it's used as supplements for budgies. Well, Namihei loves cuttlebones and I'm sure she needs calcium a lot. Why? Because she is so aggressive!
And because she is so aggressive, she loves cuttlebones. You know, it must be so fun for her to gnaw them. When I give her a new one, she usually finishes it off within a couple of days. Hmm... how often do I have to give it to her?
Her moulting period has started already, so I'm sure she is more aggressive now... sometimes I'm wondering if she is really a girl!

  カトルボーンというのをご存知でしょうか？カルシウムがたくさん含まれているので、インコちゃんたちのサプリメントとして使用されているものです。波平もこのカトルボーンが大好きです。なみちゃんはカルシウムがたくさん必要なはずです。だって、ものすごく気性が荒いですからね。
そして、気性が荒いゆえ、なみちゃんはカトルボーンが好きなわけです。それは、ガジガジかじってストレス発散になるわけですからね！新しいものをあげると、だいたい２日間でなくなります…。これ、どのくらいの頻度であげたらいいのでしょうか？
換羽も始まっているので、さらにイライラモードが上昇しているなみちゃん。たまに、本当に女子なのか疑いたくなります。

Looking forward to Autumn / 秋が待ち遠しい波平

I think the moulting period is coming again. Oh, for Namihei, of course, not for me!
Whenever she flies, she drops body feathers. Erm... if I gather them enough, can I make a comfortable futon with them?! Perhaps, I can make a small one, at least. Actually I keep some beautiful her flight feathers. I'm thinking of making something with them later.
I'm sure Namihei is looking forward to coming of autumn. Well, she came to my house last October, so I'll have a party for our anniversary!

たぶん、また換羽の季節がやってきました。もちろん、私じゃないですよ。波平の換羽です。
飛び回るたびに、羽毛を落としていくなみちゃん。これ、全部拾ってみたら、高級羽毛布団とか作れますかね？人形用サイズなら可能？！じつは、きれいな羽はいくつかキープしてるんですよ。いつかこの羽で何か作ろうと思いまして。
なみちゃん、きっと秋の到来を首を長くして待っているはずです。なみちゃんが我が家に来たのも秋、昨年10月です。もちろん、１周年記念のパーティーを計画します！

How did it happen? / どうしたの？

Yesterday, when I was preparing my supper, I heard Namihei crying. I thought she had got angry with something in her cage and didn't come to her.
Well, I should have checked her at that time... later I noticed blood on her left leg. She must have hurt it with something in the cage. At least, it wasn't bleeding anymore and she looked fine.
Hmm... one more thing, I noticed her droppings stuck around her bottom and even around her tail. It happens because she is chubby?!
I'll try to keep an eye on her more carefully from now on.

昨日、夕飯を用意している時に、波平の悲鳴のような鳴き声が聞こえました。たぶん、何かに怒ってるだけかと思い、なみちゃんに駆け寄ることをしなかったのですが…ちゃんと駆けつけてあげればよかったかもしれません。あとで、なみちゃんの左脚に血がついているのを見つけたんです。きっと、ケージの中で何かにぶつけたんでしょうね。ただ、血を流しているわけでもなく、本人も普通にしているので、安心しましたが。
もう１つ気になっているのが、おしり周りにフンがこびりついていること。昨日は尻尾にまでついていました。これって、なみちゃんが太っているからなんでしょうか？
これからは、もっとなみちゃんを注意深く見守りたいと思います。

You Rascal, Namihei! / いたずら大好き波平ちゃん

Namihei loves throwing off anything she can pick up with her beak. Yes, it's not just dropping things... she flings off them and it looks like she is fighting against them. Does she want to become a superhero?!
When she is around me, I should not open a desk drawer where I keep stationery. Why? Because she will throw off all clips and I have to pick up them!
By the way, when she does it, she looks very scary. Why is she so angry?! I have no idea...

波平は、くちばしで掴めるものは何でも勢いよく落とすのが大好き。落とす…というより、振り落としてます。敵とでも戦っている気分なんですかね。スーパーヒーロー気取りでしょうか（笑）。
そんなわけで、なみちゃんがそばにいる時は机の引き出しを開けないようにしてます。文房具なんかを見つけられると、クリップ全部投げ落とされて、私がそれを拾うハメになりますからね。
そうそう、この投げ落とし作業中のなみちゃんの形相が怖いです。なんでこんなに怒ってるのか、まったくもって不明ですが…。
