Think. Think. Think. / たくさん考える。

A busy bird is a happy bird!
When you do brainwork, don't you think you feel hungry so quickly?
When I was at school for interpreter, I would crave chocolate.
It's because using your brain consumes lots of calories. Same thing happens to budgies.
I had a day off and attended an avian seminar this Tuesday. It was a great opportunity to learn many good things for your birds. Well, I decided to let Ikura and Tara enjoy foraging more, and you know, anything can be used as a foraging toy as long as they are safe for birds.
Now I use this plastic container as a foraging toy. Hmm... Tara is a quick learner while Ikura is a bit slow. Every budgie is so smart, so I'll be patient and give enough opportunities for both of them to learn many things.

先日、有休をいただいてことりカフェさんで行われているセミナーに参加してきました。毎回いろんな気づきがあり、そして先生からだけでなく参加されている方々からもたくさんのアドバイスをいただけます。
脳を使うとたくさんカロリーを消費するというお話があり、だからフォレジングやトレーニングをしながらごはんをあげた方が太りにくいというお話がありました。
たしかに、かつて通訳学校で訓練を受けていた日々、チョコレートが手放せなかったことを思い出しました。たくさん食べてしまっても、激太りした記憶はありません。
そんなわけで、イクラとタラにももっとフォレジングを楽しんでもらおうと決意。100円ショップで入手できるピルケースもフォレジングトイとして活用できるというアイデアを伺い、さっそく試してみました。
やはりタラは飲み込みがはやく、イクラはだいぶお時間かかっています…。でも、インコは賢い生き物です。大事なのは飼い主が忍耐強く待ってあげることですね。これからもふたりにはたくさんの学びの機会を与えていきたいです。
※ピルケースのフタは完全に閉めてしまうと、セキセイサイズでは開けられません。少しだけ開けておいてくださいね。

Every budgie is different. / インコはみんなユニーク

I'm often asked how to tame budgies on Instagram. Perhaps they see how Ikura and Tara play through my photos and video clips and wish their budgies to do the same.
Well, it's always difficult to answer this question, because I don't do anything special. Plus Ikura and Tara are so different though they live in the same environment and I treat them equally.
I'm always wondering where and how they were hatched. Who were their parents and how they were taken care until they met me.
Ikura is so sweet and wants to relax with staying on my arm, but he doesn't want me to touch him. He is very chatty and loves dancing.
As for Tara, he is a bit aggressive and wants me to cuddle him, but it doesn't mean he wants to stay around me for a long time. He has got many things to do, as he is a curious budgie.
Perhaps I'm a good watcher and friend for them, and it's a key to build a good relationship with budgies.

 インスタグラムで毎度聞かれることは、どうしたらインコ（ここではセキセイインコのこととします）をベタ慣れにさせられるのか、ということです。たぶん、イクラとタラの日常の様子を見て、愛鳥さんにも同じように振る舞ってほしいと思ってのことだと思いますが、正直なところ、答えるのが難しい質問です。
特に何か特別なことをしているわけでもなく、イクラとタラは性格もまったく異なります。同じ環境下で、同じように接していても、持っている性格というのがあるんでしょうね。
常々、イクラとタラの両親はどんな感じなのか、どこでどんな風にうまれたのか、私と出会うまではどんな風に生活していたのか、知りたいと思っています（イクラとタラに聞けたらいいのですが！）。
イクラは性格は温厚で、よく飼い主の腕でリラックスするのを好みますが、お触りは嫌がります。そして、おしゃべりで、スイッチが入ると踊りも披露してくれる陽気なインコに早変わり。
一方タラはの性格はジャイアンそのものですが、抱っこされるのが好きな甘えん坊。でも、ずっと飼い主のそばにいたいわけではなく、やりたいことがあればすぐ自分の世界へ。まさに好奇心のかたまりです。
おそらく、私はイクラとタラをよく見守り、ふたりの良き友人なのだと思います。そしてこれこそが、インコたちと良好な関係を築く上での大切なポイントなんでしょうね。

What I can do for my budgies / 愛鳥さんのためにできること

Since I live with budgies, I've felt that I'm a better person in many ways. First, I do take care of myself and accept what I am. When you feel happy and are satisfied with yourself, you can be nice to others.
I want to do everything I can do for my budgies and want them to have a good life and live a long life.
Well, now I also want to think of other birds. I recently made a charity donation to a nonprofit organisation which rescues companion birds. I liked the idea that I could donate some money with purchasing something. So I've got this lovely T-shirt, which Ikura and Tara are also interested in!
I'd like to do what I can do little by little to make the world a better place for both of humans and birds.

インコと暮らすようになって、いろんな意味で自分が良い人間になった気がします。まず、自分自身を大切にし、ありのままの自分を受け入れること。自分が満たされていて、幸せを感じているときは、ほかの人に手を差し伸べる優しさや余裕が生まれてきますよね。
愛鳥さんのためにできることはなんでもやり、イクラとタラにはよい生活を送ってもらい、１日も長く生きてほしいと願っています。
最近、自分と暮らしていない、ほかの鳥さんたちのことを考える余裕も少しだけ生まれてきました。ご存知の方も多いと思いますが、NPO団体TSUBASAさんでは飼い鳥のレスキュー活動をされています。先日、チャリティーイベントがあることを知り、写真のTシャツを購入しました。欲しいものを購入することで、いくらかのお金を団体に寄付できる、というイベントです。ただお金を寄付するよりも、欲しいものも手に入る上、ものを作った人にもお金が流れるので、みんながハッピーになれる、いいアイデアだなと思いました。
私たちの暮らす世界が、人間にとっても鳥にとってもより良い世界になっていくために、私も自分のできることを少しずつやっていきたいと思います。

Relaxing time and Twitter / 優しい時間とツイッター

Ikura and Tara always make me happy and the time spending with them is precious.
Well, I only recently knew that Google+ would be shut down and it made me quite surprised. Although this blog will not be shut down, but it's linked with Google+.
So...I have been thinking and decided to create Twitter account. Since I use Instagram to show my budgie photos, I didn't see any point to use Twitter. But perhaps now is a good time to go on a new SNS. I only created my account and haven't decided yet how to use it.

イクラとタラがそばにいると、とても幸せな気持ちになります。この２羽と一緒に過ごす時間こそが宝物ですね。
ところで、つい最近知ったのですが、Google+がサービスを終了するとのこと。このブログが終了するわけではないのですが、Google+とリンクしているので、どういった影響があるのかよくわかりません。
そこで、ずっと考えていたのですが、Twitterのアカウントを取得しました。
愛鳥の写真紹介はインスタグラムでアップしているので、これまでTwitterまでやらなくても…という思いだったのですが、ちょうど良い機会なのかな、と思い作りました。ただ、まだどうやって使っていこうか全く考えていません（笑）。もしよろしければチェックしてみてくださいね。https://twitter.com/yukariusagi3
