We still need a month just to be sure... / あと１カ月。

Both of Ikura and Tara are doing well. Ikura started moulting again and I stalk him to pick up his dropped feathers.
As for Tara, he got a shot in the clinic today. This is the last one and he will keep taking medicine for two weeks. Then we wait for another two weeks without medicine before checking his his condition.
If there is no AGY (avian gastric yeast) is not found, Tara can play with Ikura finally! Just in case, I will take Ikura for checkup in a month.
Well, since Tara was just a carrier, the vet says Tara should be 99% fine.
I've known the vet for a year, but I always get nervous with him and never have a chitchat with him.
Today... for the first time, I saw him laughing a lot. He laughed at Tara's tiny head. ha ha At first, I thought something would be wrong and asked him if a tiny head could be a problem seriously (now I feel that's so stupid too!). Then he said nothing was wrong, but Tara would be a tiny budgie.
Anyway, now I want to check every budgie's head size...

今日も穏やかな休日を過ごし、イクラもタラも元気にしています。
イクラは換羽が本格的に始まったようで、私はイクラの羽根拾いに忙しくしています。
タラは、今日メガバク退治のための最後の注射をしました。
お薬はあと２週間続け、その後お薬なしで２週間経過を見てから、メガバクが完全にいなくなっているかチェックします。
というわけであと１カ月はイクラとの放鳥はお預けですね。ヒナ時代はいろんな病気や菌なども発症しやすいとのことで、あと１カ月隔離しておくのがベストとのこと。１カ月後の診察には、念のためイクラもチェックしてもらいます。
ところで、今の病院に通い始めて１年以上経ちますが、いまだに先生の前に座ると緊張します。雑談なんて一度もしたことがありません。
そして今日、初めて先生が笑ったところを見ました。クスッとか、ニヤッというレベルではなく、本当に楽しそうに笑ったんです。何を笑ったのかと言うと、タラのあたまがすごく小さいことに笑ってました！
びっくりして、「小さいあたまは何か問題があるんでしょうか？」と真剣に聞いてしまった自分が、今思えばものすごく恥ずかしいです（笑）。
「問題はないけど、この子は小柄だから体重も35ｇはいかないんじゃないかな」とのことでした。
おそらく…先生はイクラよりタラの方がお好みのようです。

Day by day... / 日々、前進。

I witness that Tara grows day by day and guess what, he already finished his baby food and he eats normal meals by himself. Well, it reduces my task a lot! ha ha
Although he is on medication to remove "AGY" (Avian Gastric Yeast) now, he is absolutely doing well and often attacks my face with jumping off.
Today he got the 2nd shot at the clinic and he will have two more.
I made his temporary room (because he has to be separated from Ikura) comfortable and joyful. I even put a new LED ceiling light!
As for Ikura, he is doing well too and enjoys calling Tara. He keeps saying "Tara chan". Don't you think it's so sweet? I can't wait to see them playing together!

タラちゃん、日々成長しています。3月14日生まれのヒナヒナちゃんですが、スパルタ教育のおかげか、昨日から完全にひとり餌に切り替わりました。
ケージの天井についたブランコにも難なく飛び乗っています。
ただいまメガバク治療中ですが、発症前のためか、とても元気なわんぱく坊主ぶりを発揮中。よく、飼い主の顔面に飛び乗ってきます…（泣）。
本日、メガバク治療の２回目の注射を打ちました。残りあと２回です。
メガバクがいなくなるまで、イクラとは別の部屋にしたほうが良いということで、急きょ物置に使っていた和室をきれいにしました。LEDシーリングライトまで取りつけて、かなり快適なお部屋になっている…はずです。
イクラはといえば、相変わらず元気におしゃべりを続けています。もう「タラちゃん」も言えるようになりました。はやくイクラとタラちゃんが一緒に遊ぶ姿を見るのが楽しみでなりません。

Meet Tara! / タラちゃんをよろしく。

I always wanted to welcome one more budgie. When I was with Namihei, unfortunately I was too late, as she started fighting cancer and I thought it would be better to spend all my love and time for her.
I love Ikura so much and always want him to be happy. Well, I know it wasn't his decision and choice, but I really hope he will be happy with his new friend, Tara.
I took Tara to the vet this morning for check up. Unfortunately macrorhabdus ornithogaster was found and he has to take a month treatment from now on. Plus he has to get a shot every week. Ouch!
Oh, Tara is a boy. I wasn't sure, but the vet says it's a boy, and he will be alright if he starts treatment now, because it has not developed yet.
Until he removes this fungus completely, he has to be separated from Ikura.
I'm really looking forward to seeing them playing together!

ずっともう一羽お迎えしたいと思っていました。波平のときは、ガンと闘うなみちゃんに寄り添いたいという思いからそれが叶わず、ようやくご縁があり、水色の子をお迎えしました。タラです。波平から始まり、もうサザエさんから離れることができません（笑）。
今朝、お迎え検診に連れて行ったのですが、「性別不明」にチェックを入れたのを見た先生が、「この子、男の子だよ」とひとこと。
そして、見つかってしまいました、メガバクテリア…。幸い発症しているわけではないので、これから１ヵ月間お薬を服用し、週一の注射でなんとか菌をやっつけることができそうです。「根絶率99.9パーセント、いや、さっき診た子は再発しちゃったからもう少し低くなるかな」と言いつつも、先生が大丈夫だよと言ってくれたのは、とても心強かったです。
ただ、根絶が確認できるまでは健康優良児のイクラとは隔離しなければいけません。できれば部屋も別で…とのことでした。
タラちゃんには１ヵ月間頑張ってもらい、はやくふたりが仲良く遊ぶ姿を目にしたいです。

Cactus Perch / カクタスパーチ

Have you ever heard of a cactus perch?
A friend of mine through Instagram gave it to Ikura. She says it's good for his legs.
Well, when I saw it to Ikura last night, he was so scared of it. Perhaps it's too big for him?
Of course, he came to the perch in the end, because he knew it was safe as long as I kept it.
But...I'm wondering... does he think it's a pillow?! Anyway, I'm happy as long as he likes it.
These days Ikura is doing well and keeps talking a lot. The problem is he keeps saying, "Oh, stink!". I know it was my fault... yes I often say that when I sniff his budgie odour!

カクタスパーチをご存知ですか？
以前からSNSなどで見かけて以来、ずっと気になっていたのですが、インスタグラムで知り合った友人から先日イクラにと、いただきました。
鳥さんの足にとても良いとのこと。さっそくイクラにカクタスパーチを見せると、猛ダッシュで逃げていきました。
きっと、大きすぎたのでしょうか。
もちろん、最後には戻ってきてこの通り。イクラも私が持っているものは安全だとわかっているんですね。
それにしてもイクラ、これが止まり木ではなく、枕だと思ってるんでしょうか（笑）。もちろん、気に入ってもらえれば何でも構わないのですが。
最近のイクラ、もちろん元気にしています。おしゃべりもだんだん増えてきて、最近の口グセが、「臭っ」なんです。これ、飼い主のせいですね。イクラのインコ臭をかぐたびに、「臭っ、臭い！」とついつい言ってしまうので。ここでの「臭い」は、もちろん「いい匂い」ということなんですが…。

Perfect budgie, Ikura / パーフェクトインコ、イクラ。

Ikura visited the vet for check-up today and we confirmed that he was fine!
As for his weight, the vet says it's the ideal one, so all we have to do is keep it.
I also asked about his long moulting period and the vet advised me to let Ikura sleep earlier.
Well, Ikura never stopped chatting... he doesn't care where he is. I was so nervous on the train and when we were in a waiting room in the clinic, it was like Ikura gave a chat show. I was asked if he would always talk like this.
Anyway, it's good to know that he is doing well. Oh, we also enjoyed cherry blossoms after visiting the vet!

イクラ、本日健康診断を受けに病院へ行ってきました。特に問題なく、体重も今がベストなので、このまま維持すれば大丈夫とのこと。
気になっていた長引く換羽については、早めに寝かせてあげるようにとアドバイスをもらいました。
健康優良児のお墨付きをいただいて、とてもうれしい限りなのですが、イクラのおしゃべりが止まりません…。電車に乗っているときは静かにしてほしいのですが、イクラはどこであってもお構いなし。
病院の待合室ではイクラショーでも披露しているような感じになってしまい、ご一緒したみなさんが「いつもこんなによくしゃべってるんですか？」とびっくりされるほど。
病院を出たあとは、少しだけ寄り道して桜を楽しみましたよ。

Sales-budgie, Ikura / 販売スタッフ、イクラ

Recently Ikura did promotion of a a vacuum food container. 
Well, I received the container as sample from a company and used it for a while.
It's quite nice to storage pellets and it seems that Ikura agrees with me.
What I was very impressed is how professional Ikura was. While I took photos of the container, he acted like a professional model and stick to the container. When I took a video clip, I didn't need to do it again and again. I just needed to do it only once... if you want to check how processional he is, please check my post on Instagram!

 先日、真空保存できるという容器のモニターをさせていただく機会があり、イクラがプロ販売員なみの動きを見せてくれてびっくりしたところです。
ペレットだけでなく、無農薬のシードやハーブなどもなるべく密封できる容器で保存できたほうがいいですよね。
モニターする中で、商品の写真やら動画を撮ることになったのですが、イクラがかなりやる気を見せてくれました。
動画は、いっさいNGを出すことなく、ワンテイクで完成したほどです。職場の同僚にも、「無駄のない動き」とほめられました（笑）。

Still moulting? / まだ換羽？

I thought Ikura had already finished moulting, but I was wrong. He lost a tail feather last week and kept losing other feathers too. I have no idea when it will stop... well, I must mention it when we visit a vet in the end of this month.
It's said that we should pay attention to your budgie, when you play with him, not to do other things while you're with him.
Okay, then what about budgies? Ikura sometimes reluctant to play with me and does other things while he plays with me... of course, I feel a bit sad and wish he could pay more attention to me!
Anyway, it's very interesting and important to keep a good relationship with your budgie.

イクラの換羽はもう終わったかな…と思っていたら、先週また尾羽が１枚抜けました。ほかにもまだまだ抜けていて、いったいいつになったら「換羽終了宣言」を出せるのでしょうか。
今月末にイクラの健康診断が控えているので、先生にこの終わらない換羽のことも聞いてみようと思います。
ところで、「ながら放鳥はしないこと」。これ、よく飼育本で見かける注意事項ですよね。放鳥して愛鳥さんと遊ぶときは、スマホをいじったりして、「ながら放鳥」になると愛鳥さんにストレスを与えるというわけです。
では、愛鳥さんの飼い主へ対する「ながら遊び」についてはどうなるのでしょうか？
イクラ、たまに私と遊ぶのがつまらないのか、他のことをしながらとりあえず私とも遊ぶということがあります。飼い主だって、「ながら遊び」をされると微妙な気持ちになりますね（笑）。
愛鳥さんと良い関係をキープするのことはとても大事だし、また興味深いことでもあります。
