Chickweed and glass apple / ハコベとガラスのリンゴ

Chickweed finally sprouted! It was more than a couple of weeks ago mum seeded, so I nearly gave it up. I thought perhaps it would grow only in Germany, as the seeds came from there. Anyway, I was wrong!
I'm so looking forward to having Ikura and Tara taste fresh chickweed.
A friend of mine I got to know through Instagram gave us a lovely glass apple.
Our curious budgies, of course, came to it to have a look immediately. Then I put some millet inside, and Tara was so quick. I know, Ikura was a bit slow as always... now I'm thinking... what do you think to put some fresh chickweed inside with water? Year, chickweed bath for them. I think it will be fun!

数週間前に蒔いたハコベが、ようやく芽を出しました！じつはあきらめかけていたところだったので、とてもうれしいです。この週末で、どんどん新しい芽が出ていますよ。
イクラとタラに、新鮮なハコベを食べさせてあげるのがとても楽しみです。
インスタグラムと通じて知り合った友人が、この素敵なガラス製のリンゴをプレゼントしてくれました。
我が家の好奇心旺盛な２羽はさっそく検品に向かっていきましたよ（新しいものをあまり怖がったりしないので、とても助かっています）。
昨日、中に粟穂を入れてみたのですが、案の定タラがすぐに中に入りました。いつものことですが、イクラはちょっととろいんですよね（笑）。
ハコベが大きく育ったら、中にハコベを入れて、ハコベ風呂なんてやってみたらおもしろいかなぁと、今から夢が膨らんでいます。

Be yourself, behave yourself / 自分らしく、お行儀よく

I took a day off this Tuesday and joined a seminar on companion birds. In the seminar I learned about parrot behaviour and how to train companion birds.
Well, do I need to train Ikura and Tara? For what? To be honest, I'm not so keen on training them to do some tricks, but I think it's important to teach what is safe and what is danger for them. Plus it's always important to make a rule when we want to live together happily.
Anyway, I'm still figuring out how to make them happy and enjoy our time together.
The 2nd photo is the sweets I bought at Kotori cafe (where we can have tea with watching lovely birds). I forgot to take a photo of the inside... sorry!

 火曜日はお休みをいただいて、ことりカフェのセミナーを受講してきました。ご存知の方も多いと思いますが、バードトレーニングで有名な石綿美香先生のセミナーです。
イクラとタラに、トレーニングは必要なのか？ごはんという報酬を与えて、飼い主の伝えたいことを学んでもらう…。
もし、かわいい動画を撮りたい、写真を撮りたいという目的なのであれば、私は反対です。私が写真を撮る理由は、ありのままの愛鳥さんの日常を切り取ることで、インコの素晴らしさを伝えたいからです。
でも、共同生活をするうえで、やはりルールは必要ですね。何が安全なものか、何が危険なものかを教えたり、一緒に楽しく幸せに暮らしていくためのルールを伝えたりする上では、トレーニングが必要だと思います。
そういう意味でのトレーニング、どうしたらこちらの意図が伝わるのか…これはまだ自分なりの答えは出ていませんが、しっかり考えていきたいと思います。
ちなみに２枚目の写真は、ことりカフェさんで購入したことりまんじゅうです。かわいいだけでなく、とてもおいしかったです！

Every budgie is extraordinary. / みんな輝いている

It has been 6 months since Ikura came to our house and I'm so happy with him.
Well, this blog title, "I'm not an ordinary budgie!" meant Namihei, my beloved budgie who passed away after fighting cancer.
Namihei was mixed breed with English budgie, so she was a bigger than other budgies. Besides she was really unique and fantastic.
Hmm... now I live with Ikura and Tara and I've learned that every budgie is so unique and extraordinary.
By the way, I have got seeds of chickweed for Ikura and Tara. Budgies love to eat this plant, so I'm really looking forward to seeing them enjoy eating it.
My mum loves doing a kitchen garden, so I asked her to grow it too!

今日でタラをお迎えして半年が経ちました。タラのおかげで私も毎日幸せを感じています。
このブログは、波平をお迎えしたときに始めたのですが、タイトルを日本語訳すると、「フツーのインコじゃない！」という感じでしょうか。これは、波平がジャンボセキセイとの混血で、ノーマルのインコとは違う、というギャグのような感覚でつけたものでした。
実際、波平はいろんな意味ですごいインコでしたが…。
今こうしてイクラとタラと暮らす中で感じることは、どのインコもみんなユニークで素晴らしいということですね。インコ（私が暮らしたことがあるのはセキセイと小桜インコだけですが）の魅力は無限大です！
先日、ずっと気になっていたハコベの種を入手しました。ハコベはセキセイインコの大好物だそうです。乾燥ハーブなどに含まれているので、イクラもタラも食したことはありましが、フレッシュなものは未体験。ハコベ風呂を作るのが楽しみです。
なお、栽培は家庭菜園をやっている母に頼みました（笑）。

Best of the best! / 愛鳥さんには最高のものを。

It was a lovely day yesterday, and Ikura and Tara enjoyed bathing a lot. After that they kept staring at each other... perhaps they wanted to check who would be the winner of the wet?!
Well, I joined an event organised by a Germany shop for birds yesterday. It's a German company, but owned by a Japanese woman and they supply foods and toys for companion birds in Japan.
It's always important to decide what to eat, right? It's the same for my lovely ones, Ikura and Tara. Hmm... I want them to be happy, but it doesn't mean I can spoil them. So I'm very strict about the amount of their food intake, and keep watching their weight as well.
I'm still learning what is the best for them, but hope I'm doing the right thing for them.

昨日は秋晴れというよりも夏日でしたね。そのせいかイクラもタラもはりきって水浴びしていました。その後はなぜかお互いにらみ合い…。もしや、どちらがずぶ濡れ王か競い合っていたのでしょうか（笑）。

ところで、「とりきち横丁」さんをご存知ですか？鳥飼いさんであれば一度は聞いたことのあるお店ではないでしょうか？
ご存知の通り、ドイツにある鳥さんのためのお店です。
昨日はとりきち横丁さん主催の「お客さまのつどいプラス in 東京」に参加してきました。
会社としてのこれからの歩みに関するお話、そしてハーブミニ知識、また参加された方々の愛鳥さんにまつわるお話や一緒に生活するうえでのヒントなど、本当にたくさんの貴重なお話を伺うことができました。
やっぱり愛鳥さんパワーはすごいですね。そして、そのパワーに引きずられてしまい、即売会でたくさん購入してしまいました（笑）。
最近、ひもじいのか木をよくかじって遊んでいることが多いので、らせん階段を購入したのですが、ふたりともお気に召したようです。
