No Sir! / やだよ。

Ikura is having a moulting period now and I'm gathering her dropped feathers.
Well, I don't know what to do with them, but I'm sure most budgie keepers do this!
As you know, I cannot collect Namihei's one anymore, but I do keep hers in four jars.
By the way, I think Ikura is just about to enter the rebellious phase. Is it too fast? This morning she refused to check her weight. She usually comes to a stand perch on the scale and this is how I check her weight. I did try three times and she didn't let me do it. In the end I managed it though. I must think of something for it!

イクラ、ただいま絶賛換羽中のため、私は羽根拾いに熱中しています。集めた羽根で何をするわけでもないのですが、ついつい集めてしまうインコ飼いさんは多いのではないでしょうか。
ご存知のとおり、すでに旅立ってしまった波平の羽根はもう集めることはできませんが、ちゃんと４つの瓶に入れて今でも保管しています。
ところで、どうやらイクラが反抗期にさしかかったのではないかと思っています。生後まだ３ヵ月も経っていないので、はやすぎでしょうか？
今朝、初めて体重測定を拒否されました。いつもスケールの上のスタンドパーチにおとなしく乗ってくれるのですが、今朝は３回も飛び去って行きました。最終的にはなんとか測定できましたが、そろそろ反抗期対策を考える必要がありそうですね。

Let's have a bath! / お風呂に入ろう。

Typhoon Lan was finally gone and fortunately my area was alright. It just took time to go to work in the morning.
We kept rainy days last week, but finally we can enjoy sunny days this week.
According to the weather forecast, the weather will be good over the weekend too, so I finally can let Ikura enjoy the sunshine outside!
Well, Ikura jumped in the drinking water tonight again. Perhaps moulting period annoys her too much? To be honest, I don't want her to have a bath in the evening, because I don't want her to catch a cold.
Anyway, she eats a lot and enjoys playing a lot. So... she should be fine?

台風21号がようやく日本を離れてくれましたね。今朝の通勤には影響はあったものの、私の地域は特に被害はありませんでした。
先週はずっと雨続きでしたが、どうやら今週は秋晴れを楽しめそうですね。天気予報では、週末も晴れマークがついていたので、ようやくイクラも庭で日光浴を楽しめそうです。
イクラ、今夜も飲み水を替えたとたん、ドボンしてきました。換羽でからだがかゆいせいでしょうか？でも、風邪をひいたら困るので、夜は水浴びしてほしくないのが本音です。
よく食べ、よく遊んでいるので、大丈夫ですかね？

Rainy days with Ikura / 雨の日はイクラと。

We had a rainy weekend and I wasn't able to let Ikura enjoy the sunshine outside. Well, I cleaned up her cage and put it outside for a while. Of course, it didn't dry up!
At least I was able to spend most of the weekend with Ikura.
I can tell that she is growing up. There are many things she can do now and she often enjoys keeping frying in my room.
Oh, and I still cannot understand what Ikura is trying to say, but she keeps talking a lot. One day, will she become a talking budgie?!

台風と秋雨前線の影響で雨続きの毎日ですが、この週末も見事に雨。台風が無事に去ってくれれば、イクラもようやく日光浴を楽しむことができるのでしょうか。
とりあえず、ケージを掃除して、外に干してみたものの、やはりまったく乾かず…。
こんな天気だからこそ、週末はほぼイクラと一緒に過ごすことができました。
イクラ、確実に日々成長している気配あります。できることが増え、部屋の中を飛び回っていることもよくあります。
そして、いまだ意味不明ですが、結構おしゃべりを続けていますよ。いつか、イクラもおしゃべりインコになるのでしょうか？！

Playful budgie, Ikura / 遊び好きなインコ、イクラ

It's only less a couple of months since Ikura came to our house, but it seems that she really lays back and enjoys her life here.
These days she loves dancing with music (her favourite must be Monty Python songs) and enjoys playing with many toys.
It's always nice to see her having a good time.
By the way, have you ever heard of "foniopaddy"? I think I mentioned it when I talked about Namihei. Well, Ikura loves this a lot and always finishes eating all of them when I give her. It's said that it contains protein, vitamins, minerals, and lots of amino acids. So it's good that Ikura can enjoy eating foniopaddy.

イクラが我が家に来て、まだ２カ月も経っていませんが、すごくリラックスした様子で、我が家にすっかり馴染んでいるイクラです。
ここ最近は、音楽に合わせて踊ってみたり（お気に入りはモンティパイソンの歌のようです）、おもちゃで楽しく遊んでみたり。
楽しそうにしているイクラを見ると、私もうれしくなります。
ところで、「フォニオパディ」というシードをご存知ですか？こちらのブログでも、波平のことを書いていたときに話題にしたことがあった気がするのですが…。ただいまイクラの大好物になっていて、あげるとすぐにたいらげます。このフォニオパディには、アミノ酸、ビタミン、そしてミネラルなどが豊富に含まれているそうです。ドイツのお店、とりきち横丁さんの売り込みのおかげで、今月から、黒瀬ペットフードさんで販売が始まり、日本でも手軽に購入できるようになりましたよ！

Ikura's moulting period / イクラの換羽

Last night I found a quite big feather in Ikura's cage. This is the sign that Ikura finally faced the moulting period.
I know it's annoying a lot and that's why Ikura wants to have a bath a lot... she did it this morning!
So now she is growing up and also faces kind of self-awareness, I suppose. She sometimes wants to keep a distance from me.
Oh, she also started talking and so far I've recognised a word, "Nami-chan". Yes, that's how I used to call Namihei. Mum often calls Ikura "Nami-chan" by mistake and we also talk about Namihei a lot. So that's why she picked it up, I guess. Well, she doesn't say her name, "Ikura" yet though!

 昨晩、ケージに落ちていたわりと大きめの羽根。とうとう本格的なヒナ換羽が始まったようです。やっぱり換羽は煩わしい期間なのでしょうか。イクラはやたらと水浴びをしたがります。今朝も水浴びしたところですよ。
イクラもどんどん成長しているんですね。そして、なんというか自我の芽生えのようなものに直面している気がします。というのも、たまに私と距離を置きたがることがあるので（単に嫌われているだけかもしれませんが…）。
それから、おしゃべりも始めていますよ。今のところ聞きとれるのは、「なみちゃん」。そうです、波平ですよ。いつも「なみちゃん」と呼んでいました。母がよくイクラのことを間違えて「なみちゃん」と呼んだり、私たちがよく波平のことを話すので、きっと覚えてしまったのでしょうね。それにしても、まだ自分の名前は言えないのはどうしてなんでしょうかね。

Bird seminar / 鳥セミナー

Yesterday I joined a bird seminar held by a German company. It's owned by a Japanese woman, who wants to introduce many birds foods from Germany to Japan.
During the seminar were were able to buy their goods as well and I did buy many things for Ikura. I know I only have got Ikura, but it seems that I did buy for several budgies.
I really had a good time at the seminar. I was able to see some people I got to know through Instagram. And it seems that Ikura is happy with new perches and wooden board in her cage!

昨日は、とりきち横丁さん主催のお勉強セミナーに参加してきました。鳥飼いさんでしたらご存知の方も多いと思いますが、あの無農薬シードなどを販売しているドイツのお店です。
セミナーの内容もとてもおもしろかったのですが、同時に開催された販売会もにぎわっていました！私もまさに爆買いしてしまい、おひとりさまのイクラに対してこの量…。散財してしまいましたが、イクラは枝分かれ止まり木や、お休みボードが気に入ったらしく、ケージ内でも居心地良さそうにしていますよ！
そして、セミナー会場で偶然、インスタグラムで知り合った方とも再会できて、とっても楽しい時間を過ごすことができました。

49th day after death of Namihei / 波平の49日。

49th day after death. I've heard that it's a very important day in Buddhism.
Namihei's soul was still in this world and I'm sure she was worrying about me, but now she can finally rest in peace and she may have started to prepare for being born again in this world.
If possible, of course, I'd like to see her soul again, but I must say my love for Namihei will never die no matter what happens in the future.
Well, I received a message from her. I took a bag, which I didn't use for a while in my room and when I opened it, I found her feather in it. I know she wanted to tell me that she would be always with me.

今日は波平の49日です。
今までずっと私たちのことが心配で地上にとどまっていた波平の魂も、ようやく安らかな眠りにつき、もしかしたらすでに生まれ変わりの準備を始めたのかもしれません。
許されるのであれば、もう一度この世界で波平の魂に、生まれ変わりに出会いたい。一緒にまた時間を過ごしたいと願っています。もちろん、それが叶わなくても波平への愛は何があっても永遠に変わることはありませんが。
今日、波平からメッセージを受け取った気がします。久しく使わずに部屋においてあったバッグを手に取り、中を開けてみると、波平の羽根が１枚落ちていました。きっと、ずっと一緒だよということを伝えたかったのでしょうね。
