Let's have a bath! / 水浴びしよう。

Last night I came back late and didn't have time to play with Namihei. This is why she wanted to out of her cage as soon as possible this morning.
She even scattered her meal to attract me.
It was really hot and humid today. Namihei usually doesn't enjoy bathing, but she decided to have a bath in the morning. Well, it was good idea, because she was really stink!
I'll wash her cage tomorrow so that she will feel comfortable.

昨日は帰りが遅くなってしまったため、波平と遊ぶ時間がありませんでした。そのせいか、今朝は早く外に出してくれと訴えてましたよ。シードも撒き散らして、アピールしてましたからね。
今日はとっても蒸し暑い１日でした。なみちゃんは、水浴びが好きではないのですが、今日は水浴びしたかったようです。最近、インコ臭がマックスになっていたので、ちょうど良かったです（笑）。
明日はケージをお掃除してあげます。快適に過ごして欲しいですからね！

New feathers / 新しい羽

Namihei looks miserable now because of the moulting period. Well, she has got new feathers and I can see them around her face. It must be annoying and itchy, as she often does grooming herself.
I wish I could help her, but she won't let me touch her!
Since she has lost many feathers, she has lost weight as well. I'm a little bit worried about it, but so far it seems that she has never lost her appetite!
I really hope she will finish her moulting period as soon as possible. I can't wait to see her fluffy body.

波平、ただいま換羽中のため、かなりみすぼらしい姿になっています。新しい羽も出てきてるので、顔周りなんかはツクツクだらけですよ。これ、きっとかゆいし、煩わしいんでしょうねぇ。しょっちゅう羽繕いしてますから。
私だって助けてあげたいんですよ。でも、お触り厳禁なので…。
羽がたくさん抜け落ちているので、体重も減っています。少し心配ではあるのですが、食欲だけはまったく減らないので、大丈夫でしょうか。
はやく換羽が終わってほしいですね。そして、あのふわもこボディーを取り戻して欲しいです！

We Love Namihei! / 波平が大好き。

I was surprised when I came back home yesterday. Why? Because my mum rearranged the living room furniture and the room looked different. Well, the space where I sit down looked narrower too.
I asked her why she had done it. She said it was for our budgie, Namihei! My mum wanted to make a comfortable space for Namihei in the living room, as she often stays at home alone. Besides it's getting hotter here, so my mum worried about Namihei. Oh, I didn't know how she did care for Namihei. It means she also has accepted that Namihei is also an important member of our family.

昨日、帰宅して驚いたのが、リビングの家具の配置が変わっていたこと。どうやら母が模様替えをしたようなんです。リビングの雰囲気は変わったし、それに私が座るスペースが狭くなったような…。
それにしても、なんで模様替えなんてしたのか聞いてみると、波平のためだそうです。なみちゃん、日中はひとりでお留守番が多いので、リビングに快適なスペースを作りたかったとのこと。しかも、だんだん暑くなってきてるので、なみちゃんのことが心配だったようです。こんなにもなみちゃんのことを大事に思ってたなんて、知りませんでした。これって、母もなみちゃんが大事な家族の一員だと認めているってことですね。

Miss Picky, Namihei / 好みのうるさい波平

These days I mix seeds and pellets for Namihei, because I cannot say which is better. Well, if she eats both of them,let her have them all!
Well, however this morning I noticed that she had been throwing away some pellets. I told her to stop it and eat them as well. Then I put them back to her meal. After that, she started to put them on the meal box. You know, she is really stubborn!
It seems that some of the crumbs are too big for her and that's why she doesn't want to eat them. Yes, size matters for her. Because I'm so generous, I brought a mortar and pestle and ground them for her.

波平のごはんは、シードとペレットのミックスです。というのも、どちらが良いのかわからず、しかもなみちゃんは両方ちゃんと食べるので、どちらもあげておけば間違いないかな、というのが理由です。
でも、今朝なみちゃんがペレットを投げ捨てているのを見ました。食べなきゃだめだと叱って、ペレットを戻すと、今度はそれをえさ箱の上に並べ始めました。頑固ですね、なみちゃん。
どうやら、シードが嫌なのではなく、粒が大きすぎて食べたくないようです。大きさって、重要なんですね。そこで、すり鉢とすりこぎを持ってきて、砕いてみました。こんなに優しい飼い主、なかなかいませんよ、なみちゃん！

A bit tired / ちょっとお疲れ気味。

I can't believe that it's already August. Well, I've been tired from humid summer days.
As for Namihei, she also looks tired, because of the moulting period. I've picked up many feathers and they're well kept in the jars.
While she is out of her cage, she is not so energetic unless she tries to find something to eat. Hmm... we're both lazy now, I suppose!
Namihei was making a noise with pushing the swing in her cage. Did she get bored too?! Now she must be sleeping well though.

もう8月だなんて、信じられないですね。ここ数日の蒸し暑さで、私はすでにヘトヘトです。
波平も、やっぱりお疲れのようですが、こちらは換羽疲れ。今回はたくさん羽が抜けているんですけど、ちゃんときれいな羽は瓶に保管しています。
なみちゃんを放鳥しても、食べ物を探すとき以外は、あまり動き回りません。私たち、ふたりともダルダルなんです。
なみちゃん、ケージの中のブランコを押して、騒音立ててました。時間をもてあましているのでしょうか（笑）。今はもう、よく眠っているようですが！

Namihei knows... / 波平は知っている。

I got up at 3:40 this morning, because I wanted to go out to take photos of beautiful lotus flowers. I usually wake up Namihei at 6:00, so I tried to be quiet as much as possible. Well, somehow she noticed something wrong and asked me to wake her up.
I didn't have much time and kept myself busy. Namihei must have known my plan and she tried to ruin it with making a mess. Oh, I had to hoover before 5:00 in the morning, thanks to my lovely budgie, Namihei!
Anyway, I managed to go out on time and was able to take some lovely photos. Namihei, you look beautiful with the lotus flower!

今朝は3時40分に起きました。というのも、蓮の花を撮りに上野不忍池に行きたかったんです。波平が起きるのはいつも6時なので、極力静かにしていたつもりだったのですが、嗅ぎつけるんでしょうね、起こせと言わんばかりに騒ぎ始めました。
準備に忙しくて、バタバタしているのに、なみちゃんは私の逃亡計画を知ってか、散らかしたりして阻止しようとしてきます。朝5時前に掃除機をかける羽目になるなんて！
いろいろありましたが、予定通り始発電車に乗って、蓮の花を撮ってくることができました。なみちゃん、お花と一緒だとかわいく見えますね（笑）。

Minerals / ミネラル

Everyone needs minerals and so do budgies.
Last weekend I found a bird shop in Shibuya and got minerals for Namihei as a sample. At first I was wondering if she would take them, because I don't see she picks oyster shell grit in her meal.
Well, I must say a miracle happens. Every day she takes some of the special minerals I got from the bird shop!
When I gave her the oyster shell grit, I always mixed it in her meal, because she didn't take it at all. But now I put another plate for the special minerals in her cage and she comes to it when she needs. I'll buy it for sure one the sample is gone!

ミネラルは人間にとっても、インコにとっても必要不可欠の栄養素ですね。
先週末に見つけた渋谷にある小鳥店でもらった鉱物飼料のサンプル、「プラスリン・マルチ」。最初は波平は食べないんじゃないかと思ってました。というのも、ボレー粉も食べている気配がないんですよね。ところが、奇跡ですよ。このプラスリン・マルチは、毎日しっかり食べているではありませんか！
ボレー粉のときは、別にすると絶対食べないので、主食に混ぜていたんです。でも、このプラスリンは、別の容器に入れてケージにセットしているのですが、ちゃんと必要なときにここからつまんでいるんです。サンプルがなくなったら、ぜひ継続して購入したいですね。
