Pellets / ペレット

What does Namihei eat every day? Well, I usually give her seeds, pellets, dried greens, and also dried sardine powder.
Yesterday I opened a new package of the pellets and shocked. It looks different from the previous one and even the smell is different. I checked the company's website and realised they had upgraded the pellets.
I wasn't so sure if Namihei would accept the new one, but so far she eats them too.
Namihei is so picky, so I always worry when I have to give her something new. Well, it seems that it just takes time for her to get used to new things though. When I gave her dried sardine, she didn't have it and didn't come close to it. But now, guess what, she eats it! Perhaps I just have to be patient.

波平が毎日食べているものは、シードにペレット、それから乾燥した小松菜チップに、煮干しパウダーです。
昨日、新しいペレットの袋を開けてショックを受けました。というのも、中身が以前と違うんです。匂いもなんだか違うんですよね。メーカーのウェブサイトをチェックしてみると、やはり改良したとの案内が。
なみちゃんがこの新しいペレットを受け入れてくれるのか、正直なところ不安でしたが、今のところ問題なく食べているようです。
なみちゃんはとっても好みがうるさいので、何か新しいものをあげるときは、いつも不安になります。でも、どうやら新しいものに慣れるのに時間がかかるだけ、という気がしてきました。煮干しだって、最初は食べなかったし、近寄りさえしなかったんですよ。でも今じゃ、問題なく食べていますからね。もう少し見守る姿勢が大切なのかもしれません。

On your shoulder / 肩のうえ

These days it's not easy to take photos of Namihei, because she tends to come to me and stays on my shoulder when I try to take photos.
Why do budgies want to stay on someone's shoulder? I searched it on the Internet. If your budgie wants to go to your shoulder, it means the budgie wants to be with you, but he/she doesn't want to be touched. Or the budgie just wants to listen to your talking.
As for Namihei, I'm not sure what it means, but I can say she pretty fancies me! She often comes to me when I call her, and she welcomes me with cheerful singing when I come home.

 このところ、波平の写真を撮るのが難しくなってきました。というのも、写真を撮ろうとすると、私のところに寄ってきて、肩にのってしまうんです。
インコはなぜ人の肩にのりたがるのか。さっそくネットでチェックしてみました。インコが飼い主さんの肩にのりたがるのは、仲良くしたいんだけど、触られるのが嫌な場合。もしくは、飼い主さんのおしゃべりをそばで聞きたい場合、などなど。
波平の場合は、どうなんでしょうか。いずれにしても、なみちゃんは結構私のことが気に入っていると思うんですよね。呼べば、来ることが多くなったし、帰宅すれば、元気な呼び鳴きで熱烈歓迎をしてくれますからね。

Beautiful budgie, Namihei / 美しいインコ、波平

Since I noticed that Namihei picking her feathers and took her to the bet, I've given her dried sardines and Nekton Bio (it's a special supplement contains necessary vitamins for moulting). I also let her enjoy the sunshine when the weather is nice.
I think everything works fine, because I've noticed that her feathers look shiny and beautiful. Now she is a beautiful budgie and looks healthy too.
The moulting period is not over yet, but I'm quite sure she'll be fine soon. No more picking and no more stress!

波平の羽むしり行為に気づいて病院へ行って以来、煮干しをあげ、それからネクトンBio（換羽中にあげるビタミン剤です）をあげ始めました。さらに、天気が良い日はなるべく日光浴もさせています。
どうやらすべてうまくいっているようです。なみちゃんの羽、すごくツヤツヤできれいなんですよ。まさに美しいインコですね。そして、健康的にもみえます。
換羽はまだ完全には終わっていませんが、きっと大丈夫です。もうこれ以上、毛引きも、ストレスもないはずです！

A tomboy budgie, Namihei / おてんばインコ、波平

Today I went to see "Godzilla Resurgence". I know the character, Godzilla, but this was the first time to see Godzilla films. Well, it was very interesting and somehow, Godzilla reminded me of my cheeky budgie, Namihei.
Namihei is a real tomboy and I always have to keep an eye on her.
Well, she enjoyed following me today, I think. When I was popping in the loo, she also followed me and I didn't notice her at first. I thought the door hit her, because she got back to my room. Fortunately she was fine, but I really worried about her. Even a small thing causes a big problem for her. I really have to be careful when she is around me.

今日、『シン・ゴジラ』を観てきました。ゴジラはもちろん知っていますが、じつは、ゴジラ映画を見るのはこれが初めてです。噂どおり、とってもおもしろかったです。そして、なぜか暴れまわるゴジラを見て、我が家の生意気インコ、波平を思い出すのでした。
 なみちゃんはとってもおてんばなインコ。だから、目が離せないんです。
今日は私をストーカーして楽しんでいたようですが、トイレに向かったときのこと。なみちゃんもついて来たんです。だけど、なみちゃんに気づかなくて…。トイレのドアにぶつかったのか、慌てて部屋に戻っていくなみちゃん。幸い、何ともなかったのですが、やっぱり心配でした。どんなに小さい出来事でも、なみちゃんにとっては大きな問題になることがあるんですよね。だから、これからは、なみちゃんがそばにいるときは、しっかり気をつけなければいけませんね。

Humidity / 湿気

Humidity... In Japan it's so humid in summer and this makes everyone feel tired. Actually, I bought an automatic digital control dry box cabinet storage recently to protect my cameras and lenses from humidity.
Well, I give Namihei some vitamins daily and I have to avoid high temperature and humidity when I store it.
Now I don't need to worry, as I've got the storage! I can put the vitamin bottle in the cabinet as well.
I started giving her the special supplement for moulting today. We shall see if it will work well!

湿気。日本の夏は蒸し暑くて、この湿度で疲れを感じてしまいますよね。そういえば、最近カメラとレンズを湿気から守るべく、防湿庫を買ったんですよ。
波平には、毎日ビタミン剤をあげているのですが、高温、多湿を避けて保管しなければいけないため、保管するのが難しかったんですよね。
でも、もう悩むことはないんです！だって防湿庫にこのビタミン剤も保管してしまえばいいんですからね。
今日から換羽時期用のビタミン剤をあげ始めました。しっかり効果が出てくれるといいのですが。

Priority / 優先順位

I think Namihei was comfortable today, as my mum was off and stayed at home. It's always nice to have someone at home, I suppose.
So now she is sleeping in my wardrobe quietly and I don't hear her feather picking.
I'm sure Namihei likes my mum, but if we think of her priority, I must have got high priority. So when she is with both of us, she tends to come to me. When I leave for somewhere else, she also comes with me. This makes me feel happy and satisfied. At least, I can feel that Namihei needs me and wants to be with me!
From tomorrow I'll give her special supplement called "Nekton Bio" as well as dried sardine powder, so that she may finish her moulting quickly.

母が今日は休みで家にいたので、波平はきっと穏やかに１日を過ごしたと思います。やっぱり誰かが家にいた方がいいんですよね。
そして今、すやすやとクローゼットの中で就寝中です。毛引きしている音も聞こえません。
なみちゃん、母のことが好きだとは思いますが、優先順位を考えると、やっぱり私の方が上ですよね。みんなで一緒にいると、やっぱりなみちゃんは私のところに来ることが多いし、どこかへ行こうとすればついてきます。こうして私も幸せを感じ、満足感に浸れるわけです。少なくとも、なみちゃんは私を必要としているし、一緒にいたいと思ってるはずです！
明日から、ネクトンBioと呼ばれるビタミン剤を、煮干しパウダーと一緒にあげてみます。これで１日もはやく換羽が終わるといいのですが。

How to stop picking! / 毛引きを止める！

These days what I always worry about is that Namihei picks her feathers.
I thought the endless moulting period caused this problem, but there might be another problem.
I searched on the Internet and it seems that lack of sleep also causes picking feathers.
We share the same room and I put a cover when I let her sleep, but I still do something in the room and usually work on my laptop. So it's not quiet enough, I suppose. Tonight, I put her cage in my wardrobe. If this works well, I'll put her cage there when she needs to sleep.

 最近の悩みはもっぱら、波平の毛引きです。長引く換羽がこの問題を引き起こしていると思ってたのですが、どうやら他にも問題がありそうです。
ネットでいろいろと検索していると、睡眠不足もまた、毛引きを引き起こすきっかけになるとのこと。
なみちゃんと私は同じ部屋で過ごしています。なみちゃんが眠る時は、おやすみカバーをかけてはいるものの、私はまだ部屋で活動しているし、だいたいはノートパソコンでカチャカチャ何かしています。これじゃ、静かとは言えませんよね。そこで今夜は、部屋のウォークインクローゼットの中にケージを置いてみました。これでうまくいったら、これからは寝かせる時はここに置くようにします。
