Panel Heater / パネルヒーター

In Tokyo it's getting cold, though my room is quite warm. Last night I finally set up a panel heater with a thermostat for Ikura's cage. 
Well, I don't want to spoil her, but she is still a baby and it's the first winter she will experience. So I have to be careful with her condition.
So far it seems that it works fine and Ikura looks comfortable.
By the way, she likes my mum too. When my mum calls Ikura, she comes to my mum. It's good, because sometimes my mum is at home with Ikura. So everyone can feel comfortable at home!

東京もだいぶ冷え込んできました。マンションである私の部屋は、意外と温かいのですが。そうは言っても、昨晩、ようやくイクラのケージにパネルヒーターとサーモスタットを設置しました。
じつは、スパルタの私はあまりイクラを過保護に育てたくはないのですが、それでも初めて体験する冬です。無理は禁物。体調をしっかり見守っていく必要がありますね。
今のところ、しっかりサーモスタットもパネルヒーターも作動しているようです。
ところで、イクラは母のことも慕っているんですよ。母が呼ぶと、ちゃんとイクラは母の元へ飛んで行きます。母が家にいることも多いので、私にとってはとてもうれしいこと。これでみんな、お家でハッピーに過ごせますね。

Namihei and Ikura / 波平とイクラ

When I welcomed Ikura, I worried about her, because she was a bit slow. But now I don't think I need to worry about her anymore. She is very active and it seems that she has taken over Namihei's skills. Of course, it still takes time to become like Namihei though.
Ikura is a normal budgie and her weight is 31g now. As for Namihei, she was mixed with English budgie, so her weight was 50g. You can see the difference in these photos!
Well, I'm sure we do agree that Namihei was an extraordinary budgie. And if we give Ikura enough time, I think she will become a unique one as well.

イクラをお迎えした当初は、かなりドンくさいインコだな、と心配していたのですが、もうそんな風に心配することもなくなりました。イクラ、とっても活発で、どうも波平の特技を踏襲しつつあるんですよね。もちろん、波平のようになるにはかなり時間がかかると思いますが。
イクラは普通のセキセイインコで、体重は31ｇです。一方、波平はジャンボセキセイの混血なので（お店では「ジャンボセキセイ」として販売されていました）、体重は50ｇでした。こうして見ると、体格の違いがはっきりわかりますよね？
みなさんきっと、波平がスペシャルインコだったことに異議はないと思うのですが、イクラも時間をかければ、だいぶユニークなインコになると思いますよ。

Ikura is growing up! / イクラ、成長しています。

I put two photos here. One was taken yesterday and the other was taken a month ago. Can you see how Ikura grew up?!
When she came to my house, she was a toddling baby and it wasn't easy to walk.
And now she can run very fast and even fly quite well.
It's always lovely to see baby budgies, but I'm looking forward to seeing the grow up Ikura.
By the way, I joined a seminar on birds today. One of the speakers came from Germany and she explained how companion birds are protected there. It was very interesting and now I want all of the companion birds to be happy with their owners.

今日はイクラの２枚の写真を並べてみました。１枚は昨日撮影したもので、もう１枚はちょうど１ヵ月前に撮影したものです。イクラ、この１ヵ月でずいぶん成長したのがわかりますよね？
お家に連れて帰ってきたときは、イクラはまだ足もしっかりしていなくて、ヨチヨチ歩きだったんですよ。
それが今、恐ろしいスピードでダッシュし、飛ぶことだってだいぶ上手になってきました。
インコのヒナちゃんは、無条件にかわいらしくて、いつまでも眺めていたいと思ってしまいますが、イクラの成長ぶりもとても楽しみです。
ところで、今日はTSUBASAセミナーに参加してきました。ご存知の方も多いと思いますが、飼い鳥のレスキュー団体のTSUBASAさんです。ゲストにはあのドイツのとりきち横丁を運営されている方もいらっしゃって、ドイツでの飼い鳥がどのように守られているのかなど、貴重なお話を聞くことができました。どういう形であれ、飼い鳥さんみんなが飼い主さんと幸せに暮らしていてほしいですね。

We have been together for a month. / お迎えして１ヵ月。

I took Ikura back to my house on the 8th of September, so yes, we have been together for a month.
When she came to my house, she was still a baby and looked so innocent. And now she seems to get used to this new environment and I can feel that our bond is getting stronger day by day.
There are many things Ikura can do now. Yesterday she started bathing (she did it twice a day).
She can fly quite well now, so she comes to me when I call her.
I wonder how she grows up.

イクラをお家に連れてきたのが9月8日。そうです、今日でお迎えしてから１ヵ月が経ちました。
お家に来た時は、まだヒナヒナで、ものすごくピュアに見えたイクラですが、今じゃもうこの新しい環境に慣れ、私たちの絆も日に日に強くなっている感じすらあります。
イクラができるようになったこともたくさんあります。昨日はなんと自ら水浴びをしていました。しかも朝晩２回も！
そして、だんだん上手に飛べるようになってきたので、呼ぶとちゃんと飛んできてくれるようになりましたよ（距離が遠いとダメですが）。
これからの成長が、とっても楽しみです。

Bird lovers / 愛鳥家さんたちとの出会い

Yesterday I took a day off and went out to meet some bird lovers I got to know through Instagram.
I really had a good time and was able to have lots of advice on keeping budgies.
It's always nice to have reviews and opinions on something from someone we know in person.
Well, now I have to think of a heating for Ikura, as it's getting cold in Tokyo. Besides she is still a baby.
For Namihei, I used to use a bulb and it was fine with her. But it may be a bit dangerous for Ikura, because she seems to be clumsy... Last night I ordered a panel heating, so I hope it will work fine.

昨日は有給休暇をとり、インスタグラムを通じて知り合った愛鳥家さんたちとの集まりに参加しました。
とても楽しいひとときで、あっという間に時間が過ぎていきましたよ。そして、セキセイインコとの生活へのアドバイスをいろいろいただけて、本当に有意義でした。
何か購入する時に、知っている方々からのレビューや意見をもらえるのは、ありがたいですよね。
東京も朝晩はだんだん冷え込んできています。そしてイクラはまだヒナちゃんなので、そろそろ保温対策を考えなければいけません。
波平のときは電球タイプのものを使用していて、特に問題はなかったのですが、イクラの場合はちょっと鈍臭いので、ケージの中に入れて使用するのはちょっと不安です。
昨晩、パネルタイプのものを発注したので、これでイクラも大丈夫でしょうか。

The day we met for the first time. / 波平と私が出会った日。

I met Namihei for the first time 3 years ago today. I remember it was Friday and went to the ship after work.
I was thinking about welcoming a different budgie (I wanted a blue one at that time), but he wasn't ready to eat by himself yet.
Then I noticed this yellow one who kept sitting near to me. When I put my finger in front of her, she came to me without hesitation. That's why I decided to welcome Namihei. Now I know we were meant to meet and live together. Perhaps she had a mission to teach me many important things in life.
I am so happy that I was able to meet her and spent time with her.

 3年前の今日、波平に初めて出会いました。あの日は金曜日で、仕事が終わってダッシュでお店に向かったのを覚えています。
本当は、ブルーのセキセイちゃん狙いだったのですが、その子はまだ一人餌ではなかったので、お迎えを断念しました。そんな時に、プラケースの中で私の近くに寄ってじっとしている黄色いインコの存在に気づいたんです。お店の人に外に出してもらい、指を近づけると、何の迷いもなく手に乗ってくれた波平。これがお迎えを決めた瞬間でした。
思えば私たちは、きっと出会う運命で、共に時間を過ごすことが約束されていたんでしょうね。波平の任務はきっと、私に人生でたいせつなことを教えることだったのではないでしょうか。
なみちゃんにで会えて、短い間でも一緒に過ごすことができて、本当に幸せです。

Ikura wants to play with me! / イクラ、一緒に遊びたい。

I had a lovely weekend with Ikura. The weather was nice, so she enjoyed the sunshine outside for a while. I also cleaned up her cage as well!
When she came back to my room, she must have bathed in the drinking water plate. She pretended to be sleeping when I saw her, but I found her belly soaked.
While I enjoyed reading, she often came to me and bothered me a lot. She even changed the font size bigger on my kindle unnecessary...
I know she wants to play with me and enjoy spending time together. I'm so glad that she shows me her curiosity about me.
I try not to disappoint her and we'll enjoy our time together!

週末はイクラと一緒に楽しく過ごすことができました。お天気にも恵まれ、イクラは外で日光浴を楽しみ、ケージも丸洗いできました。
イクラ、部屋に戻ってから、どうやら水入れで水浴びをしたようなんです。私が見ると、寝たふりしちゃってましたけど、お腹がびしょぬれでしたからね。
私が読書中、イクラがよく私のところにきておじゃま虫をしてきました。キンドルのフォントのサイズまで大きくする始末。
イクラ、一緒に遊んでほしいんですね。こうしてイクラが私に興味を示してくれることが、とてもうれしいです。
イクラを失望させないように、ふたりで楽しく過ごしていきたいですね。
