Stop starving! / 空腹をストップ！

Namihei has got a bad habit. When she is in a bad mood, she scatters her precious seeds! The other day my mum told me that her meal box had already been empty after lunch time. It was lucky that my mum was at home on that day. If not, she wouldn't have got refill until either me or my mum got back from work.
I don't want her to wait for me with starving. No, I shall not let her starve! Ta-da! Look at the 2nd photo. This is what I made. Well, it worked perfectly! I'll make a better one this weekend and until then I hope it will be enough!

波平の悪いクセ。それは、機嫌が悪いと、大切なシードをばらまくこと。先日、このばらまき行為により、すでにお昼過ぎにはえさ箱が空っぽになっていたと、母から聞きました。幸いその日は母が在宅だったので、問題ありませんでしたが、いなかったら、母か私が帰宅するまで、なみちゃんはごはん抜きということになってしまいます。
おなかをすかせて待っていてほしくないし、そんな状態になんて絶対させない！というわけで、本日２枚目の写真をご覧ください。ジャジャーン（笑）。取り急ぎ作ったものですが、ちゃんと効果があったようです！週末にはもっとしっかりしたものを作りたいのですが、それまではこれで頑張ってほしいものです。

Take it easy! / 気楽にね。

How do you feel on Mondays? I usually feel a bit dull and sometimes keep mourning in my mind. But I don't want to take a day off on Mondays, as it will make things worse!
I took this photo yesterday morning, yes on Monday. Don't you think it looks like Namihei is telling us "take it easy"?
Oh, don't ask me why she is hanging on a clothes hanger. Well, she refused to go back to her cage and I had to chase her with the hanger!
Anyway, I managed to come back from work early enough and we enjoyed playing together after supper.

月曜日って、どんな気持ちになりますか？私はちょっとだるい感じで、たまに心にモヤモヤが残っています。でも、月曜日お休みすると、仕事がもっと大変なことになるので、休みたくはないんですけど。
１枚目の波平の写真は、そんな月曜の朝、昨日撮影したものです。これ、なんだかなみちゃんが、「気楽にね！」と言っているように見えませんか？
ちなみに、なんでハンガーにぶらさがっているのかというと、またケージに戻りたくなくて、逃げ回っていたので、私がハンガーを持って追いまわしてました（笑）。
なんとか仕事も早く片付き、家に帰って夕食後に、ちゃんとなみちゃんと一緒に遊びましたよ！

Checkup / 健康診断

Yesterday I took Namihei to the vet for checkup. No worries, everything was fine! I just wanted to make sure she was alright. Since she started eating pellets, the colour of her poo has changed and it's kind of bright green now.
Then I noticed that her poo was watery. You know, Namihei is still facing moulting period and it must consume her energy a lot. So she can fall sick easily during the period.
Anyway, nothing was wrong and she met her favourite vet and nurse!
I myself have to have checkup next month, so what I have to do is try to lose weight as much as possible...

昨日は波平を連れて、小鳥病院へ行ってきました。そのうと便検査をしましたが、問題ありませんでした。
ペレットを食べ始めて以来、フンの色があかるい緑色に変わったんですよね。
さらに、なんだか水っぽいフンになっているので、念のためと思い、病院へ行ったわけです。
獣医さんもおっしゃっていましたが、長く換羽が続いていると、体調を崩しやすくなるので、気をつけなければいけないですね。とりあえず、昨日はなみちゃんのお気に入りの獣医さんと看護師さんだったから、すべて良しとしましょう！
私も来月、健康診断があります。やるべきことは、少しでも体重を減らしておくこと、でしょうか（笑）。

Give it a try! / 試してみてね。

Namihei's main diet is seeds, but I have tried to give her pellet since I took her to a vet for the first time. Finally she started eating it little by little!
Well, this pellet is the one a friend of mine recommended. Namihei wasn't interested in the first one at all, but this one seems to be all right. I still have to be careful with the size though. She will throw away, if it is too big. If it is too powdery, she won't eat it. So... I've bought a mortar and a pestle and make sure each pellet size is ideal for her! I really hope she will appreciate my effort and enjoy eating pellet as well.

 波平の主食はシードですが、初めて病院にかかって以来、ペレットも食べてもらえるよう頑張っています。そして、ついに食べ始めるときがきました！
このペレット、友人から勧めてもらった国内産のものです。以前あげていた輸入物は、まったく興味を示さなかったんです。ただ、この国内産でも、粒の大きさが大切なんです。大きすぎると、ポイっと捨てるし、粉々だと、食べません。そんなわけで、100円ショップですり鉢セットを買ってきました！これでおいしく食べてもらえるサイズにしてるんですよ。この涙ぐましい努力を、なみちゃんが感謝してくれるといいのですが。そして、ペレットもおいしく食べてほしいものです。

A Crow Attack! / カラスの一撃。

In Tokyo the weather was so lovely yesterday and it was like early summer already. So it was good to enjoy the sunshine outside. Of course, I let Namihei did it, as I've heard that it's important for budgies to bathe in the sun.
I put her cage in our garden and kept the door open so that I could hear outside. Suddenly I heard that Namihei had made a noise with her meal box. Then I saw a big crow sitting near her! Well, the crow was so brave and it didn't move at all even I was in front of it. Okay, I made a strange noise to threaten it. After making it twice, finally it was gone and I won! I'm so glad that Namihei was unhurt. Hmm... I must be careful with crows from now on.

昨日の東京は初夏を思わせる快晴でした。まさに日光浴日和ですね。もちろん、我が家の波平にも日光浴を楽しんでもらいました。インコちゃんには日光浴が欠かせないと聞いたことがあるので。
なみちゃんのケージを自宅の庭に置き、ドアは開けておきました。こうすることで外の音が聞こえますからね。すると、突然なみちゃんがえさ箱を揺らして音を立て始めたんです。行ってみると、なんと大きなカラスがケージのそばに！このカラス、度胸があるのか、私を目の前にしてもビクともしませんでした。すかさず威嚇する変なうめき声を発してみて、２回くらいやったところで、ようやく飛び去っていきました。なみちゃんが無傷で本当によかったです。これからは、カラスにも用心しないといけませんね。

Up! / 上へ！

A couple of months ago I put a swing near the curtain rail in my room, as I thought Namihei would want to play on it. You know, budgies love going up. But Namihei wasn't interested in the swing at all. Besides she didn't try to climb on the curtain at all.
Last night something changed. She suddenly stuck to the curtain like Spider-Man and then went on the swing!
I'm so glad to see that, as she always refused to go on the swing when I tried to let her.
Now I know that I should be patient and wait until Namihei will get used to something new, as it may take time.

 数か月前に波平が遊べるようにと、部屋のカーテンレール付近にブランコを設置しました。インコって、上に行くのが好きですもんね。でも、なみちゃんは興味がなかったらしく、ブランコに近寄ることも、カーテンによじ登ることもなかったんです。
昨晩、変化がありました。突然、なみちゃんがスパイダーマンのようにカーテンの上をよじ登り始めたんです！そして、ブランコにちょこんと乗りました！
じつは、何度かなみちゃんを無理やりブランコに近づけて逃げられたことがあったので（笑）、これを見たときは本当にうれしかったです。
これからは、もっと忍耐強く待ったほうが良いということですね。なみちゃんは、新しいものに慣れるのに時間がかかるかもしれませんからね。

Namihei fell down from a perch. / 波平、止まり木から落ちる。

Sometimes I don't know what  Namihei wants to do, but I can tell you one thing. She definitely has got a good sense of humour. Yesterday she had plenty of time outside and I'm sure she enjoyed playing or destroying my stuff!
She loves trying to go further into somewhere narrow and obviously it won't fit her at all. Yet, she never gives up!
By the way, she fell down from a perch yesterday. She was into grooming herself and in a good mood. Then she lost her balance and fell down. I know it's rude, but I couldn't stop laughing at her. I'm sure she did notice it, so she pretended to be okay and behaved like nothing had happened. Poor Namihei!

たまに、波平が何をしたいのかわからないことがありますが、言えることは、なみちゃんにはユーモアセンスがあるということ。昨日は放鳥時間がたっぷりあったので、外で遊んだり私のものを破壊するのを楽しんだはずです。
なみちゃんって、絶対入れないような狭い所に行くのが好きなんですよね。入らないのに、あきらめない（笑）。
そういえば、昨日なみちゃんが止まり木から落ちたんです！とってもご機嫌な感じで羽繕いに没頭してたんですけど、バランスを崩してそのまま落ちました。申し訳ないけど、笑いが止まらず、それに気づいたなみちゃんは、大丈夫なふり、そして何事もなかったかのように振る舞っていました。かわいそうななみちゃん！
