Trick OR Treat! / ハロウィン

It's Halloween today. Namihei cannot do trick or treat, but she always wants to have the food I am eating. When we are in the living room, she often hangs around the sink on her own. But when I start something at the table, she somehow notices it and comes flying at me. Perhaps she must have a "treat me" sensor...
I wanted to do something special with her for Halloween, but so far she isn't interested in any fake pumpkins. Yes, she knows she can't eat them! Enjoy your Halloween day!

今日はハロウィンですね。波平は「お菓子をくれなきゃ、いたずらするぞ！」はできませんが、いつも私が食べているものを欲しがります。リビングにいると、なみちゃんはだいたい、シンクのあたりで、ひとり遊んでいます。でも、私がテーブルで何か食べ始めると、すかさず察知して、私のところにすっ飛んでくるわけです。たぶん、「ちょうだい」センサーが備わっているんでしょうね、なみちゃんには。
ハロウィンに、なみちゃんと一緒に何かしたかったのですが、偽物のかぼちゃには当然、関心のないなみちゃん。そりゃ、食べられないってこと、食いしん坊にはわかってますよね。ではみなさん、ハロウィンを楽しんでくださいね！

Idol Budgie, Namihei / アイドルインコ、波平

Today's photos were taken by my new camera, Nikon D7200. Well, I call it "Kolya"! Well, D3200 is called "Nikolay" by the way.
Well, I use the same lens, but I can see some differences in these photos. Perhaps it means a camera body itself is also important.
I want to show Namihei like an idol budgie in my photography. What do you think? Does she look a bit chubby?! Does she look sly?! Last night she did annoy my mum a lot and my mum said Namihei was doing it on purpose. Hmm... if I want Namihei to be an idol, I must teach her good manner too.

今日の写真、新しいカメラ、ニコンD7200で撮りました。カメラは、コーリャと名づけましたよ。ちなみに、D3200の名前は、ニコライです（笑）。
同じレンズを使っていますが、何となく写真に違いを感じます。つまり、カメラ本体も重要っていうことですね。
波平を、アイドルのように写真で表現したいのですが。いかがでしょうか？ちょっと太っちょに見えますかね？ずる賢く見えますか？昨晩、母親の邪魔をまたしてしまったようで、なみちゃんは嫌がることをわざとやっていると言われてしまいました。もし、なみちゃんをアイドルインコにしたいのであれば、ちゃんとマナーも教え込まないといけませんね。

Namihei with Moulting Period / 波平の換羽

Well, I still take photos of Namihei with my old camera, Nikon D3200. I tried the new one, D7200, but it's totally different from D3200 and I don't feel comfortable with it yet. I need to practise a lot before getting used to it, I suppose.
As for Namihei, she has a moulting period now and drops lots of yellow feathers. Because of this, she can be slim now, but I'm sure she still has got enough fat... When she faces something she doesn't like, she starts fluttering her wings and it makes a huge mess... she knows it annoys me and my mum! I'm sure she will look a bit weird with her new feathers soon.

波平写真は、まだ古いカメラ、ニコンD3200で撮り続けています。D7200も試してみたものの、D3200とあまりに違うので、使い勝手が悪く、慣れるのに時間がかりそうです。もっと練習時間が必要ですね！
なみちゃんはといえば、ただいま換羽まっただ中です。というわけで、あちこちに黄色い羽が落ちてます。そして、羽が抜けるので体重も軽くなり、痩せたと思わせて、じつはまだ脂肪が残っているわけです（笑
。嫌なことがあれば、羽をバタバタ。そして抜けた羽がそこらじゅうで舞いあがり…。なみちゃん、私も母もこれが嫌だってわかってて、やってるんですよ。もうすぐ、ツンツン顔になりますね。きっと。

Namihei These Days / 近頃の波平

Recently I bought a new camera, Nikon D7200. I haven't used it yet, but hope to take better shots of Namihei with it.
As for Namihei, I must apologise her, as I didn't play with her at evening over the weekend. I kept going out all day and had less time with her.
One night I checked her cage when I came back home and she was sleeping on the swing. Perhaps it's like a cradle for her and she can sleep well on that? Or she wants to stay on the highest place to protect herself instinctively? Anyway, she wasn't angry with me and we're getting along each other!

最近、新しいカメラを購入しました。ニコンのD7200です。まだ使用していませんが、このカメラで波平のベストショットを狙いたいと思います。
なみちゃんはといえば、私、謝らなくてはいけません。週末は外出で忙しく、夜は遊んであげられなかったんです。一度、帰宅した際、なみちゃんの様子をチェックすると、ブランコに揺られながら寝ていました。やっぱり、ゆりかごみたいに揺られるとよく眠れるのでしょうか。それとも、本能的に寝る時は身を守るため、一番高い所に行きたがるのでしょうか。とりあえず、なみちゃんは怒っている様子はなく、今もちゃんと仲良くやっています！

I'm calling you! / 波平、呼んでます

It's autumn. Namihei doesn't have autumn colour, of course, but she does have a moulting period instead! Recently I can find her trace everywhere. When I find beautiful feather, I keep it in a small glass bottle.
Well, she also keeps singing recently too. It sounds like a phone ringing, but how did she learn it?! Or is it a natural sing for her? I always keep my mobiles silent mode, so she cannot learn such sound... At least, I must say she is obviously calling me with that song. You know, everybody needs attention and so does Namihei!

秋ですね。波平はもちろん紅葉しませんが、換羽があります。今の時期、なみちゃんの痕跡がどこにでもあるわけです（ほわ毛とか、大きな羽とか）。キレイな羽の落し物を見つけたときは、それをガラスの小瓶に集めています。
それから、最近よく呼び鳴きをしていますね。それが、電話の鳴っている音みたいなんです。でも、どうやってその音を知り得たのか？！私の携帯電話はマナーモードで音は鳴らないようになっているのに。それとも、この鳴き方は、自然なものなのでしょうか？！いずれにしても、なみちゃんは明らかに私のことを呼んでいるわけですね。誰だって、注目を集めたいわけで、なみちゃんも注目されたいんです！

Namihei Language / なみへい語

These days Namihei is trying to say something new, but so far I cannot recognise what she wants to say yet. Budgies are very clever and they can copy what we speak. Female budgies are not so good at it, so I don't think Namihei can memorise lots of words.
When I had a female love bird, she was able to say, "Oi", "Shut up", and "Ponta" (it was her name). As for Namihei, she can say "Nami chan", "Yes", "Wait a sec", and, "Stop it". Hmm... she should learn something positive phrase next time, I suppose!

このところ、波平は新しいことを言おうと頑張っているようなのですが、いまだ何を言いたいのか聞き取れず。
インコはとっても頭が良くて、人間の言葉もよく覚えるそうですね。メスインコちゃんは、あまり得意ではないそうなので、波平もたくさんの言葉は覚えられないでしょう。
以前、メスの小桜インコを飼っていたとき、「おい！」、「うるさい！」、「ポンタ」（自分の名前）の３つは覚えていました。なみちゃんはといえば、「なみちゃん」、「はい」、「ちょっと待って」、そして「やめて」の４つです。次は何かポジティブな言葉を覚えてほしいですね（笑）。

Shiny Stuff / ピカピカ

It's getting cold here in Tokyo and there are many people wearing a mask. It means they have a cold! Fortunately I still keep away from a cold. As for Namihei, I hope she is okay too.
When I saw Namihei from a distance, I found something shiny on her cere. I came close to her and saw her cere. Then I noticed that she had a runny nose! When she exhaled, the shiny water also came out. When she inhaled, it disappeared to her nostrils. We kept seeing each other for a while... then she sneezed and I laughed. Hmm... after that she didn't have any watery stuff, so she should be all right!

 東京はだんだんと寒くなってきています。マスクをしている人も増え、風邪が流行っているといことですね。幸い、私は風邪を引くことなく、元気にしています。波平も、元気だといいのですが。
なみちゃんを遠くから眺めていると、ろうまくのところに何か光るものを見つけたんです。近づいて見てみると、なんと鼻水でした！ろうまくから空気が出ると、鼻水も一緒に出てきて、逆に吸い込むと、鼻水もろうまくの中に消えていくんです。しばらくお互い見つめあっていると、なみちゃんはくしゃみし、私は笑いだしました。その後は、鼻水は出ていなかったようなので、なみちゃんも大丈夫だと思います！

Namihei hates Greens / 波平は、青菜がきらい

Namihei doesn't eat greens at all, though I have tried to feed them to her many times. Well, she must be stubborn!
When I was a kid, there were many budgies in my house and all of them liked to eat greens. So I thought budgies would like greens naturally.
I showed her my eating greens and she was a bit interested, but it wasn't enough to eat them by herself. So far I add dried greens in her seeds every day, but I'm really not sure how much greens go to her mouth! Maybe I should show her a video clip in which a budgie is eating greens...

波平は青菜をまったく食べません。何度もあげてみたのですが、ダメでした。頑固ですね、なみちゃん。
子供の頃、家にはたくさんのインコがいて、どのインコも青菜が大好きだったので、インコは生まれつき青菜が好きなのだと思っていたのですが…。
私が青菜を食べているところを見せると、多少興味を示すものの、自分も食べてみるという行為には至らず。今のところ、ドライ小松菜をシードに混ぜて、毎日与えるようにしているのですが、いったいどれだけちゃんとなみちゃんの口に入っていることやら。こうなったら、インコが青菜を食べている動画でもなみちゃんに見せてみましょうかね。

Into Darkness / 暗闇へ

These days Namihei is pretty quiet when she is out of her cage. She often stays in the same place and starts taking a nap. I'm not sure why, but it might be because I often keep myself busy and don't try to play with her. Perhaps I need to pay more attention to her?
I've also noticed that she likes going to somewhere very dark. She likes going inside of the desk calendar. For her, it's like a tunnel and fun to go through it? Anyway, I don't want her to feel stressed too much, so I'll be more careful about Namihei and try to play together more.

 この頃、放鳥時の波平はかなり静かなんです。同じ場所でじっとして、居眠りを始めたりすることも多く、もしかしたら、私がかまってあげていないことが原因なのかもしれません。いわゆる、「ながら放鳥」ですね。
そして、もう１つ気になったのが、暗い所に行くのがやたらと好きになったこと。卓上カレンダーのすき間に入るのが大好きなんです。きっと、トンネルみたいで抜けて行くのが楽しいんでしょうかね。
なみちゃんには、必要以上のストレスは感じてほしくないので。これからはもっと注意して、一緒に遊ぶように頑張ります。

Have A Smell of Namihei / 波平のにおい

If you have kept a budgie, I'm sure you know the smell of budgies. It's not easy to describe the smell though. Some people say it's like butter.
I also have a smell of Namihei every time I let her get out from her cage. She usually has no body odour in the morning. At evening I often notice her BO. To be honest, I quite like this smell and it smells like tissue paper... but not every paper though. The one in the living room smells like Namihei and she usually stays there in the daytime. It means her smell goes to this tissue paper?! Is it kind of her scent marking?! I'll find out what's going on in the living room!

インコを飼ったことがある方は、あの独特のインコ臭をご存知だと思います。どんな匂いなのか、言葉にするのは難しいのですが、バターのような匂いとも言われていますね。
私も波平を放鳥する際は、必ず匂いチェックをしています。朝はだいたい無臭なのですが、夜はインコ臭を放っていることが多いですね。私も、結構インコ臭にハマっているのですが、なんとなくティッシュペーパーの匂いなんですよね。いや、どうやらリビングにあるティッシュの匂い…。なみちゃんは日中リビングにいることが多いのですが、もしかして波平臭がティッシュに付着している？！これって、一種のマーキングですかね？リビングで何が起こっているのか、徹底調査します！

A Watcher, Namihei / 観察するインコ、波平

I've heard that budgies like to do the same thing what others do. So perhaps, Namihei is a good watcher. Actually, when I watch a film on my laptop or read books, she usually keeps quiet. Sometimes she dozes off on my shoulder and sometimes she stays a bit away from me (but somewhere she can watch me) and has a rest.
When I stops watching a film or reading, she also wakes and starts doing kind of a stretching exercise. Then we play together for a while. However, there is an exception. When I eat something, she always comes to me and tries to steam what I'm eating. She just forgets about the rule, "DO NOT DISTURB!"

インコはほかの仲間と同じ行動をするのが好きだと聞きました。というわけで、おそらく波平は観察力に優れているのでしょうね。確かに、私が映画を見ていたり、読書しているときは、なみちゃんは静かにしているんですよね。私の肩の上で居眠りを始めたり、ちょっと距離を置いて（でも、ちゃんと私を観察できる場所で）、そこで休んでいたり。
映画鑑賞や読書をやめると、なみちゃんも起きてスサー（準備運動のような行動）を始めるわけです。そして、一緒に遊ぶのがお決まりのパターンです。でも、例外もあるんですよ。私が何かを食べるときは、必ずやってきて、食べ物を奪おうとしますからね。なみちゃん、「邪魔しない」ルールをすっかり忘れるようです。

A Place Where Namihei Belongs / 波平のいる場所

Last night I came back home late again, as I was super busy at work! So I had to let Namihei out at the living room while I was having supper.
I've noticed that Namihei often wants to go to my room when she is in the living room. Well, she tries to fly to my room, but it's so dark in the corridor toward to my room, so she always gives up on her way and comes back to the living room.
Perhaps she knows where she belongs? She thinks my room is her own property?! I'm sure she is saying, "There's no place like home"! But Namihei, your home is that tiny cage though... or does she think it's just the place to sleep?!

昨晩、また残業で帰宅が遅くなり、リビングで夕食を食べながら波平を放鳥することになってしまいました。
最近気づいたのですが、リビングで放鳥すると、なみちゃんは私の部屋に行きたがるんです。部屋に向かって飛んで行くものの、部屋も廊下も暗いので、結局途中であきらめて引き返してきますが。
たぶん、自分のいるべき場所がわかっているんでしょうか？
なみちゃんは、私の部屋が自分のものだと思っているのでしょうか？！「やっぱりお家がいちばん！」なんてつぶやいていたりして…。でも、なみちゃんのお家って、そのちっちゃなケージなんですけどね。もしや、ケージは単に寝るだけの場所だと思っていたりするんでしょうか。なみちゃん、結構ずうずうしいですからね（笑）。

Feed Me! / もっとちょうだい

Namihei is currently on a diet and I have to feed her less now. At the moment, her weight is 51g and it's not easy to reduce her body weight. Of course, she always wants to eat more and is trying to steal more seeds when I prepare her meal.
When I took her from a shop, I was told that her average weight would be 50 to 60g. But when I took her to a clinic, a vet told that Namihei was too fat.
I always feel sorry when I cannot feed her more and she looks very sad... I really hope she does understand the situation and doesn't think I'm an evil keeper!

波平はただいまダイエット中で、ごはんの量も減らしています。なみちゃんの現在の体重は５１グラム。正直なところ、体重を減らすのはとても難しいです。さらに、なみちゃんはもっと食べたいアピールをしてくるし、ごはんの準備中、常にシード保管箱を狙ってきます（笑）。
なみちゃんをショップからお迎えしたとき、標準体重は５０から６０グラムだと言われました。でも、病院へ連れて行ったときは、太り過ぎだと注意されたわけです。
なみちゃんにごはんをいっぱいあげられないし、悲しい顔をされるしで、私も心苦しいのですが、なみちゃんがこの状況をちゃんと理解してくれていることを願います。そして、意地悪な飼い主だなんて思っていませんように！

Namihei wants to play with me. / 波平、一緒に遊びたい

Namihei usually likes to play alone in my room, but these days she wants to play with me. I sometimes keep myself busy on chores while she gets out from her cage. Then she tries to disturb me and does something unpleasant. I'm sure she is trying to attract my attention.
Last night another miracle happened! She was gnawing on my camera and mobile, so I called her name with clapping my hands. Then she turned around and looked at me. After that she even came to my shoulder! Well done, Namihei! Sometimes she does something incredible.

 波平はたいてい、部屋でひとりで遊ぶのが好きなのですが、最近はどうやら私と一緒に遊びたいようです。でも、放鳥時、私も雑用などで忙しくしていることがあります。そんなとき、なみちゃんは邪魔攻撃と、嫌がらせ攻撃をしてくるんです。きっと、気を引きたいんでしょうね。
昨晩、またまたミラクルが起きました！なみちゃんが私のカメラや携帯電話をガジガジしているので、「なみちゃん！」と呼んで、手をたたいたんです。すると、振り返ってこっちを見たではありませんか。そして、なんと飛んできて肩に乗ったんです。やるじゃないか、波平！なみちゃんって、たまにすごいことをやってくれるんですね。

Care for a Beak / くちばしのお手入れ

Namihei is just one year old, but I can see a kind of sign of ageing in her beak. When she came to my house last October, her beak was very smooth. But now, there is a chap in her beak and it seems like it needs more moisture. Does Namihei need to apply cream for dry skin?!
Anyway, this is natural and nothing wrong with her beak, according to some information on the Internet. A beak is kind of human hands for a budgie. Perhaps she uses her beak too much?! I mean she gnaws on my hands too much!

波平は１歳になったばかりですが、どうもくちばしに、すでに老化サインが現れ始めているようです。昨年１０月になみちゃんをお迎えしたときは、くちばしはとっても滑らかでした。それが今は、ひびがあるんですよね。しかも、乾燥し過ぎている気が…。なみちゃんも、ドライスキン用のクリームが必要なんでしょうか？！
とはいえ、ネット上の情報収集をする限り、ひびがあるのはごく普通のことで（ひびの具合によっては病気のサインかもしれませんが）、問題はなさそうです。くちばしは、インコにとっては人間でいう手のようなもの。たぶん、なみちゃんはくちばしを使い過ぎじゃないですかね。つまり、飼い主の手をかみ過ぎだと思いますよ！

Let's take a shower! / 波平、シャワーを浴びる

Well, who is this miserable budgie?! This is Namihei after taking a shower. Don't worry, she was just soaked, not sick!
Yesterday the weather was so lovely, so I let her enjoy the sunshine in the balcony.  Then I decided to have her take a shower. I started misting her with water. She doesn't like bathing, but it seemed that she quite enjoyed being soaked. Then she looked so miserable!
Anyway, I'm sure she looks better after taking a shower. From now on, I'll teach her to bathe on her own regularly so that she can keep her beauty!

このみすぼらしいインコはだれ？！これ、シャワーを浴びた後の波平です。病気じゃないですよ。ただずぶ濡れなだけです！
昨日はとっても良いお天気だったので、バルコニーで日向ぼっこをさせていたのですが、急にシャワーを浴びさせることを思いついたわけです。すかさず霧吹きでパシャパシャ始める飼い主。なみちゃんは水浴びは好きじゃないのですが、どうやらパシャパシャを楽しんでいる模様。そうしているうちに、このみすぼらしい姿になったわけです。でも、この後なみちゃんの毛並みは美しくなったはず。これからは、なみちゃんが自ら水浴びをしてくれるように教えていこうと思います。そうすれば、美貌を保てますかね？！

Finally Namihei Answers My Call! / 波平、ようやく呼びかけに応える

When I welcomed Namihei last year, I dreamt of a close relationship with her. As you may know, it didn't come true though. Namihei likes to be independent and wants to do whatever she likes.
When I call her, she usually ignores me. When she is in a good mood, she comes to me, but only lands on my head, instead of my pointing finger in front of her.
Last night, miracle happened. She answered my call and flied straight toward my pointing finger. Actually she made it three times! Perhaps she is trying to learn this?! Okay, she is quite a slow learner, but it means I shouldn't give up hope for her!

波平を昨年お迎えしたとき、なみちゃんとのベタベタな関係を夢見ていたのですが、ご存知の通り、現実のものとはなりませんでした。なみちゃんはひとりが好きだし、やりたい放題な性格だったわけです。
なみちゃんを呼んでも、たいていは無視されます。機嫌が良ければ来てくれますが、差し出した人差し指ではなく、なぜかいつも頭上にスライディングされます。
昨晩、奇跡が起こったんです。なんとなみちゃんが、呼びかけに応えて、差し出した人差し指に飛んできてとまったんです。しかも、３回もですよ！たぶん、まだまだ学ぼうとしているのでしょうかね。そうであれば、ちょっと優等生とは呼べませんが、ということはですよ、まだ希望を捨ててはいけない、ということですね！
