Spending the weekend with Namihei / 波平との週末

Although I went out both on Saturday and Sunday, I still had enough time with Namihei in the morning and night.
The weather was lovely on Saturday and I cleaned up her cage in the morning. Then I played with her in my room and let her enjoy the sunshine outside.
Well, these days she is obsessed with my bookshelf. She wants to go inside, but it's not easy to make it, because of her chubby belly. But she did it finally on the weekend! She never gave up and tried again and again. Hmm... Namihei is quite a hard worker, isn't she?
She also enjoyed her flight from the living room and my room again and again. Yes, sometimes she needs exercises!

週末は土日ともに外出していたのですが、それでも朝晩、波平と一緒に十分な時間を過ごすことができました。
土曜日は良いお天気で、朝早いうちからなみちゃんのケージを掃除して、部屋で一緒に遊んで、それからなみちゃんは外で日向ぼっこもできました。
最近、なみちゃんは本棚に執着していて、中に潜り込もうとするわけです。でも、どうもたっぷりしたお腹が邪魔するのか、なかなか中に入れない。でも、とうとうこの週末に、潜入できたんですよ！なみちゃん、決してあきらめず、何度もトライしてたんです。なみちゃんって、努力家なんですね。
それから、部屋とリビング間の飛行を何度も楽しんでいました。たまにはインコだって運動もしないといけませんね。

Let's play together. / 一緒に遊ぼう。

Namihei usually likes playing alone when she is out of her cage. She just wants me to stay with her. But these days she wants to play with me! So what kind of games can we do together? Well, we play tag together in my room. She chases me and I try to escape from her. She wants to come to my shoulder, so I try not to let her do that. It's quite exciting and she also looks very excited. The problem is I can't play it for a long time, because I get short of breath easily!

波平は放鳥時はひとり遊びが好きで、私は単なる見守り役。ただ、最近は一緒に遊びたがるんですよ。インコと人間、どんな遊びが一緒にできるのかというと、部屋で鬼ごっこです（笑）。なみちゃんが追いかけてくるので、私が逃げる、という具合です。なみちゃん、私の肩に止まりたがるので、私がそれをひたすらかわす、というわけです。これ、結構盛り上がるんですよ。なみちゃんも楽しそうにしてます。問題は、私がすぐに息切れしてしまうので長続きしないことですね。

Namihei loves me. / 大好き。

Now I'm quite confident that Namihei likes me. When we are on the sofa in the living room, she looks very comfortable in her cage. Once I leave the sofa, she starts looking for me with calling.
Last night she kept stalking me and wanted to stick with me. So it wasn't easy to take her photos. She always came to my shoulder when I tried to take her photo. Well, she was obsessed with staying on my shoulder, I suppose. And of course, whenever I moved, she followed me, no matter where I was going. One more thing, these days when I try to let her sleep with covering her cage, she pretends to eat her seeds. She knows while she is eating, I will wait for her. Well, she is lovey, isn't she?

今なら、波平は私のことが好きだと自信を持って言えます。リビングで一緒にソファーにいるとき、なみちゃんはとっても穏やかな表情をしています。でも、私がソファーを離れると、呼び鳴きして探し始めるんですよ。
昨晩は、なみちゃんにずっとストーカーされてました（笑）。どうしてもくっついてくるので、写真を撮るのも一苦労。カメラを向ければ、必ず肩に乗ってしまう始末。
それから、ちょっとでも動けば、どこへ行こうともなみちゃんがついてくるんですよ。もう１つ、最近気づいたことは、夜、なみちゃんを寝かせるときにおやすみカバーをかけているのですが、それをかけようとすると、いきなりごはんを食べているフリをするんです！なみちゃん、ごはん食べてる間は私が待っていてくれることをわかってるんですねぇ。かわいいですね、なみちゃん。

Speed, speed! / せかす。

Recently Namihei demands lots of things from me and she is very bossy. In the morning, she calls me a lot until I pay attention to her. Well, I sometimes pretend not to notice her call. Then she starts shouting in a high pitched voice. Why does she make such noise? Because she is in an uncomfortable position! When she wants to attract me and get out of her cage, she does an upside-down pose. I'm sure it's quite uncomfortable for her, as she is a bit chubby. But when she is desperate, she does do whatever necessary, I suppose.

最近、波平の要求がエスカレートしている気がします。なみちゃん、とってもえらそうなんですよ。朝なんて、私が気にかけるまで、ずっと呼び鳴きを続けます。たまに気づかないふりをするのですが、そうすると、甲高い声になっていくわけです。なんでそうなるかというと、なみちゃん、苦しい格好をしているわけですよ。なみちゃんは、私の気を引こうとして、逆さまポーズになっているんです。これが外に出たいアピールです（笑）。なみちゃんはぽっちゃりなので、結構苦しいポーズだと思うんですけど。ただ、切羽詰まったときは、必要なことは何でもやるタイプのようです！

Fighting spirit / 闘争心

Namihei is a girl budgie, but she is stubborn and bold. Is this because I gave her a boy's name by mistake?! I always want her to behave like a lovely girl though.
A couple of days ago, she showed her fighting spirit toward me! Well, I'm much bigger than her, but she isn't afraid of me at all!
When I showed my anger at her and pretended to be a big bird, she flied to me without hesitation. When I avoided her and she failed to land on me, she headed for me again and again.
In the end I got so tired and let her win. Yes, Namihei, victory shall be yours!

 波平は女の子ですが、頑固で大胆な性格です。これって、私が間違えて波平なんて名前を付けてしまったせいでしょうか。飼い主としては、かわいらしい女の子として振る舞って欲しいんですけどね。
数日前、なみちゃんが私に闘志を向けたことがあったんです。もちろん、なみちゃんから見たら私は巨人サイズ。それでも怖がる様子はまったくありません。
なみちゃんにイラっとして、私も鳥になりきって威嚇したのですが、なみちゃんはひるむことなく私に向かって飛んできました。私がうまくかわして、私の体に止まれなかったなみちゃんは、何度も私に向かってくるではありませんか。さすがに疲れ切った私は、なみちゃんを肩に止まらせることに。そうですね、なみちゃんの勝ちですよ！

I shall be waiting. / 待ってます。

when Namihei is with me in my room, she doesn't want me to leave the room. When I'm leaving, she tries to follow me. But she doesn't follow me, if it's dark in the corridor or the living room. Perhaps she is afraid of darkness!
Sometimes she is into what she is doing and doesn't notice me leaving. In that case, because she isn't sure where I am, she is waiting for me on the door knob of my room with calling me. Well, she is like a loyal budgie and waits there until I come back. For a while she keeps calling me, but then she waits there quietly. Maybe I should call her "Hachi" instead of "Nami"!

私と一緒に部屋にいるときは、波平はひとりになりたくないようです。私が部屋から出ようとすると、なみちゃんもついてこようとします。でも、廊下やリビングが暗い時は、暗闇が怖いのか、ついてくることはありません。
遊びに夢中で、私が出て行ったことに気がつかないこともあります。そんな時は、私がどこに行ったのかわからないので、部屋のドアノブの上にちょこんと乗って、呼び鳴きして私を待つわけです。なんだか忠犬ならぬ忠鳥ですね。しばらく呼び鳴きした後は、だまってドアノブの上で私の帰りを待ってるんです。たぶん、これからは「ナミ」じゃなくて、「ハチ」と呼んだほうがいいのでしょうか。

Namihei is sensitive. / 波平は神経質。

Namihei is quite sensitive, though she doesn't look she is.
Yesterday, we had a fire alarm check in our apartment and a middle aged man came in my room where Namihei was relaxed. Once she noticed the unknown human, she went into a panic. Then the man noticed he had caused this panic and apologised to us! Well, she was in her cage, but I really worried about her.
Last year, when we had the fire alarm check, she was playing in my room. At that time, she also went into a panic and hit herself against the wall. Then she started vomiting and I took her to a bird clinic. She had to get a jab several times to recover... This time she managed the incident though. Hmm... I don't think she can meet my friends, as she will be nervous. She recognises only two humans, me and my mum. Or does she think we are also budgies?!

波平、見かけによらず、意外と繊細なんです。
昨日、マンションで火災探知機の定期点検があり、おじさんが私の部屋にも来ました。なみちゃん、リラックスモードだったのですが、おじさんの姿を確認するなり、パニック状態に。それを見たおじさんも、どうしていいかわからず、とりあえず謝って出て行きました（笑）。なみちゃんはケージの中でしたが、あまりのパニック状態に、私も本当に心配でした。
というのも、昨年の定期点検の際、なみちゃんはケージの外で遊んでいて、おじさんパニックで壁ドン惨事となってしまったんです。少し吐いてしまって、今度は私がパニック状態でなみちゃんを病院へ連れて行きました。あのときは、３回くらい注射されてしまって、本当にかわいそうなことをしました。
今回はそんなことにはなりませんでしたが、なみちゃんが私の友人たちにお披露目される日は、やって来ないのでしょうねぇ。なみちゃんが大丈夫な人間は、私と母の２人だけ。いや、もしかして、なみちゃんは私たちのことも同類だと思っているかもしれませんね！

Something wrong in my leg! / 足に違和感

I've noticed that Namihei often worries about her right leg. Something wrong in her leg, I suppose, but I cannot find anything which bothers her. I don't think she broke her leg. Maybe it's time to clip her nails? I'll try to look her nails later, but she really doesn't like to be grabbed. Besides I'm not used to clipping her nails yet. Anyway, I'll do my best!
By the way, Namihei tries to steal seeds I keep. She is so greedy now!

波平、どうも右足を気にしているようなんです。何かおかしいのでしょうが、何がおかしいのか、私にもよくわからないんです。骨折している風ではないんですけど。もしかして、爪が伸びすぎていて、引っ掛かってしまうのでしょうか。あとでチェックしてみようとは思うのですが、なみちゃんは掴まれるのが大嫌い。しかも、私も爪切りはまだ慣れてないんですよね。とにかく、最善を尽くします。
ところで、なみちゃんは私がキープしているシードを盗み食いしようとしているんです。本当に食いしん坊ですね、なみちゃんは！

Just Being Around / ただそばにいるだけで

Namihei usually enjoys playing on her own and she doesn't try to play with me. Well, I want to play with her and often try to call her though.
But it doesn't mean she wants to be alone. She always checks where I am while she hangs around in my room.
So she still needs me, doesn't she?! I'm wondering when she will show her respect for me. Now she often attacks me and ignores my calling. When I type at my laptop's keyboard, she gets angry and attacks my hands badly. Does it mean I should pay attention to her more?

波平はひとり遊びが好きで、私と一緒には遊びたがりません。私は一緒に遊びたくて、呼ぶんですけどね。
でも、それはなみちゃんが決してひとりが好きというわけではないようです。部屋で遊んでいるときは、常に私がどこにいるか気にしているようなので。
だから、なみちゃんは私が必要ってことですよね！でも、いつになったら尊敬の念を表してくれるのでしょうか（笑）。今はよく攻撃してくるし、呼びかけも無視することが多いです。パソコンのキーボードをたたいているときなんて、ものすごい勢いで攻撃してきますからね。でもこれ、もしかしてもっとなみちゃんを気にかけてほしいというサインなのでしょうか？！

Scatter Around / まき散らし

I have got a plastic camera to take interesting photos of Namihei. Hmm... I read the instruction again and again, but I didn't understand it well. Perhaps I'm so slow! Hopefully I'll manage to take some nice photos and show them here in the future.
Well, Namihei has got a bad habit. When she is in her cage and wants to attract me, she starts scattering her seeds around. She does it especially when she notices that I have finished my supper... yes, she knows when her fun time begins. She also stalks me these days. When I go to the living room, she also comes there. Then she notices that I'm going back to my room, she goes back first and waits for me there. I hope she will not follow me in the loo!

以前から興味があった、トイカメラを買ってみました。これで波平のおもしろ写真を撮りたいのですが、使い方、いまひとつわかりません。何度もマニュアルを読んだのですが、どうも頭に入ってこなくて。はやく、フィルムで撮ったおもしろ写真をこちらのブログでもアップできる日が来るといいのですが。
ところで、なみちゃんは悪いクセを覚えました。ケージにいる際、シードをまき散らして飼い主の気を引こうとするんです。特に、私が夕食を食べ終えた後にやることが多いですね。きっと、この後放鳥してもらえることをわかっているのでしょう。それから、ストーカー行為も始まっています。リビングに行けば、なみちゃんも飛んでやってくる。そして、私が部屋へ戻るそぶりを見せれば、先に帰って部屋で待伏せ作戦です。とりあえず、トイレにはついてこないでほしいですね。

Hide & Seek / かくれんぼ

Namihei tends to go somewhere narrow, where she cannot be fit. It's like she is playing hide and seek with me. Of course, she is the hiding budgie, but I must say she is a loser. She can't hide well!
She is in a cheerful mood recently and enjoys playing a lot in my room. Although she also enjoys attacking my hands! Well, now she is into the bottom bookshelf and always tries to go there. What does she do there? It seems that she wants to go inside and also bites my precious magazines. I want her to play somewhere else, so I must create a place which attracts her!

波平は自分の大きさじゃ入れないような、狭い場所に行くのが好きなようです。それがまるで、かくれんぼをしているようなんです。もちろん、鬼が私で、なみちゃんが隠れるほう。でも、うまく隠れていませんけど（笑）。
最近、上機嫌で私の部屋で楽しそうに遊んでいます。そして楽しそうに私の手も攻撃。今のお気に入りは、本棚の１番下の部分。そこで何をしているかといえば、一生懸命中に潜ろうとしたり、私の大切な雑誌をガジガジしたり…。なみちゃんにはどこか別の場所で遊んでほしいものです。どこか、なみちゃんが楽しめる場所を作らないといけませんね。

Sweet one, Namihei / いとしの波平

Last night, Namihei was different from usual. When I came back home, she welcomed me from the living room. When I called her name, she answered cheerfully.
Then while I was having supper in front of her, she kept attracting me with a weird dance.
She is afraid of the darkness, so she doesn't try to follow me when I go somewhere in the dark. She was different last night! When I left for the kitchen, she stuck on my shoulder in the dark. When I turned on the light there, I took her back to my room. But she came back to me in the kitchen again! Hmm... what happened to her? She suddenly missed me too much?! Anyway, I hope she always likes me enough!

昨晩の波平は、いつもと違いました。まず、私が帰宅した際、リビングから熱烈歓迎ムードの呼び鳴きが。そして、なみちゃんの名前を呼ぶと、元気よく返事が返ってきたんです。
なみちゃんの目の前で夕飯を食べていると、ずっと変な踊りで気を引こうとするではありませんか。
なみちゃんは、暗闇が苦手です。私にくっついてきたい時も、行く手が暗い場合はあきらめて部屋に戻ります。
ところが、昨日は違ったんですよ。暗闇の先にあるキッチンに向かう際も、がっちり肩につかまっているではありませんか。キッチンで明かりをつけてから、なみちゃんをとりあえず部屋に戻したのですが、また戻ってきました。いったい何があったんでしょうか。急に寂しくなっちゃったのでしょうか。とりあえず、飼い主のことを好きでいてほしいですね！

Namihei Powder Again / 波平パウダーふたたび

When Namihei has a moulting period, she produces white snowy powder, which I call "Namihei powder". You can see some white powders on the calendar in the photo. That's "Namihei powder"!
Well, she likes resting on the calendar these days, so she always leaves her powder with green droppings... and I'm the cleaner, by the way.
Now she has got many baby feathers, so I'm sure she will look like a beauty budgie queen soon!

 換羽中、波平は白い粉も撒き散らしてくれます。これ、私は「波平パウダー」と呼んでいるのですが、ちょうど写真にある、カレンダーにくっついている白い粉がそれです！
最近、このカレンダーの上でお休みするのがお気に入りのようで、カレンダーに波平パウダーとなみちゃんの落し物がべっとりくっついているんですよ。当然、掃除係は私です…。
いま、なみちゃんは新しい毛が生えてきている、ツンツン状態です。もう少しで、美しいインコ女王のような姿になるはずですよ！

Timing is Everything. / タイミングこそがすべて

Namihei tends to pick a bad time to attract her keeper, me! When I call her, she often ignores me. Then she starts calling me after I leave her.
When I come back from work, I always come to her in the living room and greet her at first. When she is desperate to play outside or gets bored, she answers me. But usually she just ignores me and even doesn't try to look at me!
Then when I leave her to wash dishes, she start panicking. She moves nervously and calls me a lot. Namihei, you must be nice while I'm around you. Otherwise I may lose interest in you in the end! (Of course, it's just joking though.)

波平は、なんというか、飼い主の気を引くタイミングが悪いんですよね。私が呼んでも、たいていは無視。そして私がいなくなったら、呼び鳴きする始末。
仕事から戻ると、私はリビングにいるなみちゃんのところへ真っ先に行き、ただいまの挨拶をするわけですが、またしても無視。こっちを見ようともしないんですよ。まあ、外で遊びたいとか、退屈で仕方ないというときは、応えてくれますけどね。
そして、夕食を食べ終え、お皿を洗おうと席を立つと、急にパニックに陥るわけです。そわそわ落ち着きなく動き、呼び鳴きするわけです。なみちゃん、私がそばにいる時に愛想よくしてほしいんですけど。そうじゃないと、そのうち愛想尽かされますよ（って、冗談ですけどね）！

Namigon is Back! / ナミゴン、ふたたび

When Namihei becomes aggressive, I call her "Namigon" with Godzilla theme song.
Yes, she is back! I mean, Namigon is back... she is so aggressive now and enjoys attacking me. Boy, it's time to apply a special ointment to my hands again. Why? Because Namigon bites my hands a lot! What have I done? Erm... I've reduced the amount of her daily seeds, but it's for your sake!
No more Namigon, please. I want you to be yourself again!

 波平が暴れん坊モードになったとき、ゴジラのテーマソングが頭の中で始まり、なみちゃんを「ナミゴン」と呼んでいます。
ナミゴン、ふたたび来襲です。ただいま暴れん坊モード全開で、飼い主への攻撃を楽しんでいる模様。はあ、またオロナイン軟膏を手に塗りまくる日々が始まります。というのも、手、とくに指の関節を噛みまくるからですよ、ナミゴンが！
それにしても、私が何をしたっていうんでしょう。確かにごはんの量は減らしましたよ。でもこれって、なみちゃんのためなんですけど。ナミゴンにはお引取りいただいて、いつものなみちゃんに戻ってほしいです。

Be Creative! / クリエイティブでいよう！

I think Namihei is very creative and these days she is hanging around a new area in my room. Yes, she has thought of a new play. Now she is into bags and clothes. She wants to play with them! Well, I don't want her to hang around there, to be honest, though. Why? Because who knows when she will drop her weapons (I mean, poo...)!
So when she goes there, I always keep an eye on her.
She also likes taking a walk on the floor too. So I always have to keep the floor clean, because she may try to pick up something dust!

波平はクリエイティブなインコだと思います。最近、また新しい遊び場を私の部屋で開拓したようです。今のお気に入りは、バッグと洋服の周りで遊ぶこと。私としては、やめてほしいところ。というのも、なみちゃんがいつ、落し物をするのか、心配でなりません。そんなわけで、なみちゃんがここで遊び始めたときは、必ずそばで監視するようにしています（笑）。
それから、床のうえをトコトコ歩くのも最近の流行りのようです。なみちゃんが、ゴミでも拾って食べてしまっては大変、ということで、床も常にキレイにしておかねばならない今日この頃です。

Little Jumbo, Namihei / ちょっとジャンボの波平さん

When I took her to a vet on Monday, I asked her if Namihei was really a jumbo English budgie. Well, she is not, obviously, as her face is totally different though. But it's true that she is bigger than normal budgies. The vet said that perhaps Namihei had jumbo English blood, but not 100%. So I should call her Little Jumbo from now on.
Of course, I love her regardless what she is, but I'm just curious about her roots. Does she have any siblings? Are they also a bit chubby? Do they also have the same colour? To be honest, if I had two Namiheis, I'm sure I would have been in trouble!

月曜日に波平を小鳥クリニックへ連れて行った際、獣医さんになみちゃんはジャンボセキセイインコなのか聞いてみました。当然、あの特有のおでこがないので、違うとは思うんですけどね。
先生いわく、おそらくジャンボの血が入っているんだろうと。だから、普通のインコちゃんたちよりも骨格が大きいとのことです。というわけで、なみちゃんのことは、リトルジャンボと呼ぶことにします（笑）。
もちろん、なみちゃんが何であれ、愛おしいことには変わりありません！ただ、やっぱり出自は気になるもの。兄弟はいるのか。いるならば、みんな太っちょなのか、色はなみちゃんと同じなのか、などなど。でも、もしなみちゃんが２羽いたら、きっとお世話が大変だと思うんですよね。
