Nobody likes medicines. / みんなお薬が嫌い。

Nobody likes medicines. I know Namihei doesn't want me to touch her, but it can't be helped! When I give her medicines, I have to catch her like this.
Unfortunately she is still on medication and I have to help her.
This morning she got so angry with me and it causes kind of tension in our relationship. I didn't know what I should do, so I just simply let her do whatever she wanted and ignored her. Then she finally came to me and we're fine again.
Tomorrow I'm going out and will get back late. Fortunately my mum will stay at home with Namihei, so I really hope it will be okay with her!

みんなお薬が嫌い。波平が触られるのが嫌いなことはわかっています。でも、お薬をあげるときは、仕方ないですよね。写真のように掴んでしまうしかないんです。
残念ながら、まだ投薬治療が続いていて、こうやってなみちゃんをサポートしなければいけないわけです。
今朝、なみちゃんが私にキレてしまって、私たちの関係に緊張が走りました。仕方なく、なみちゃんの好きにさせて、私は無視するような感じでしばらく過ごしていたのですが、ようやくなみちゃんが私のところに戻ってきて仲直り。
明日は出かける予定があり、帰宅も遅くなります。幸い、母が家にいてくれるので、なみちゃんも大丈夫だといいのですが。

How is Namihei? / 波平の様子は？

How is Namihei? Well, she is doing well, but I still feels that she isn't herself yet.
This morning she skipped her breakfast out of her cage and started playing around in my room. She didn't eat a lot, but her weight was stable, so perhaps she ate enough in her cage.
I also notice that she often takes a pee. For budgies the white part of the poo is supposed to be a pee, but now she does leave water only. I'm taking her to the vet next Thursday, so I must find out if this is normal.
I let her play in my room for a while after I came back home, but told her to go back to her cage early. She still needs a rest to recover fully.

 波平の様子はというと、まあ元気にしているのですが、それでも本調子ではないな、というのが実感です。
今朝は外でごはんを食べずに、部屋で遊びまわっていました。ただ、ケージにいたときにしっかり食べていたのかもしれません。体重に変動はなかったので。
気になることは、なみちゃんがよくおしっこをすること。インコのおしっこというのは、フンの白い部分がそれにあたるとされていますが、それではなく、本当に水分だけを排出する感じです。
来週木曜日にまた病院へ連れていくので、問題ないのかどうか聞いてみます。
帰宅してから、なみちゃんを部屋で遊ばせたのですが、早めにケージに戻るように促しました。やっぱり、しっかり回復してもらうには、休息が必要ですもんね。

A candy thief! / キャンディー泥棒。

Well, it's not about Namihei, but I really want to talk about this. There was a mouse in my house for several days and we finally managed to get rid of him! I really hope he won't come back to our house anymore. This mouse, I must call him "Candy Thief". Yes, he stole about 10 candies from our basket in the living room. Apparently his favourite flavour was milk. And orange flavour wasn't his cup of tea.
As for Namihei, I'm wondering... has she got something wrong from this mouse?! Fortunately she is doing well so far. I just worry about her poo condition though. She usually takes poo frequently, but now not so often. For her it's very stressful if she cannot get out of her cage, but I rather want her to take a rest. So I just let her play outside for 20 minutes tonight. Hope she is satisfied!

ここでは波平の話をすべきなんでしょうが、やはり話したいのが、我が家に侵入してきたねずみの話。このねずみ、数日間リビングに滞在していた模様ですが、昨晩ようやく追い払うことができました。もう2度と、家には戻ってきてほしくないですね。
このねずみ、キャンディー泥棒なんです。リビングに置いてあったカゴから、10個くらい盗んでいたのですが、どうやらミルク味がお好みのようで。オレンジ味はいまいちだったようです。
波平はといえば、この体調不良、ひょっとしてこのねずみのせいなのでは？と疑っているのですが、幸い元気にしています。ただ、やっぱりフンが少ない気がするんです。普段は結構ひんぱんに落としていくのですが、どうも少ないんですよね。安静にしてほしいのですが、やはりケージから出られないのがストレスになるので、今夜も20分だけ遊ばせました。これで満足してくれるといいのですが！

Still not well? / まだ不調？

When I woke up Namihei in the morning, I noticed that she had left pellets in the meal box. Perhaps she doesn't want to eat pellets now, as she is not feeling well. So I've decided to give her seeds only for a while.
She ate enough, but she didn't take poo so much. What does it mean?!
She also wants to eat out of her cage, so I let her out after I came back from work. She was eating so fast! But... she didn't take poo so often. She usually takes poo several times while she is out of her cage, but tonight she left a tiny one only. I really hope she is fine and will be okay soon.

今朝、波平を起こした時に気づいたのですが、えさ箱にはペレットがたくさん残っていました。たぶん、体調が良くないから、食欲もなくて、ペレットなんて食べたくないんでしょうか。しばらくは、シードだけで様子を見ようと思います。
今日は、良く食べているのですが、それに対してフンの量が少ない気がします。これって、何かおかしいんでしょうか？！
なみちゃんはどうやらケージの外でごはんが食べたいようなのですが、シードをあげると、ものすごい勢いで食べます。でもやっぱり、フンの量が…。普段、放鳥時に数回フンをするのですが、今日は１回のみ。しかもとっても小さいものでした。なみちゃん、早く元気になってほしいです。

Get well soon, Namihei! / 波平、はやく良くなってね。

Last night I felt something wrong with Namihei when I let her sleep. Then this morning she was less cheerful and she didn't demand breakfast so strongly.
So I decided to take her to the vet and I must say I did the right thing.
There were some germs found in her poo and it seems that she has got digestion problems too. Poor Namihei, she got a shot! For a while she needs to take medicines too. Hmm... I wasn't feeling well and had a slight sore throat last week. I think when I feel unwell, she also becomes ill somehow. I'll take care of myself more for Namihei from now on.

昨晩、ちょっと波平の様子がおかしいなと思いながら、寝かせたのですが、今朝やっぱりちょっと元気がなく、しかも朝ごはんも残しました。
そんなわけで、念のためなみちゃんを病院へ連れて行ったのですが、私の判断は正しかったようです。
フンから菌が見つかり、さらには消化不良も起こしているとのこと。かわいそうななみちゃん、注射を打たれました。そして、しばらくはお薬を服用しなければなりません。先週、私があまり体調が良くなく、喉も少し痛かったのですが、どうも私が不調になると、なみちゃんも病気になりがちな気がします。これからは、なみちゃんのためにも、もっと自分の健康にも気をつけたいと思います！

A mouse / ねずみ

My mum confirmed that a mouse had entered our house, as she found the mouse poo in the living room. But we can say that Namihei hasn't met this mouse, because it must have entered during the night and Namihei always sleeps in my room.
Last night, that mouse did try to break in! We did lock every door and window before sleeping, so it couldn't come in. Well, in the morning there was debris in front of the balcony door. The mouse must have gnawed the rubber seal on the door. I'm so glad that Namihei wasn't threaten by it, but I still worried... you know, it's still around our house!

 母がリビングでねずみのフンを見つけたと言っていたので、やはりねずみが家に侵入したことは間違いないようです。ただ、どうも侵入したのは夜だったようなんです。波平は夜は私の部屋で寝ているので、おそらくねずみとは顔を合わせていないはずです。
昨晩、このねずみ、また侵入を試みたようなんです。寝る前にちゃんとドアも窓も戸締りを確認したので、ねずみが入る心配はありませんでしたが、今朝ベランダに出るドアの前に、屑が落ちてたんです。なんと、ドアの下のゴムパッキンをかじったようなんです！恐るべし執念…。
波平がねずみで怯える体験をしていなかったのは幸いですが、心配なのが、このねずみ、きっとまだ家のまわりをうろうろしているんですよね。

Interloper / 侵入者

Mum found a hole on the screen window in the living room this morning. Well, our neighbour just told her that she had found some mice and my mum wanted to make sure if our house was fine. Apparently not! A mouse must had gnawed the screen window and got into our house. I'm so glad that Namihei is still fine. You know, she can be the potential victim among us, as she always stays at home. I really hope the mice won't be inside anymore...
It was a national holiday today and I was at home, because I didn't feel well. So we were together all day and Namihei looked very calm!

今朝、衝撃の事実が…。母がリビングの網戸に穴ができているのを発見したんです。ちょうど、マンションのお隣さんにねずみが出たという話を聞いていた矢先の出来事でした。どうみても、ねずみが網戸を食いちぎった跡なんです。おそらく家の中にも侵入したと思われますが、とにかく波平が無事でよかったです。普段家で留守番しているのはなみちゃんなので、一番狙われやすいですもんね。それにしても、侵入したねずみ、もう家の中にはいませんよね？！
今日は秋分の日でしたね。東京はあいにくの雨。私は風邪気味だったのでおとなしく家で過ごしました。おかげでなみちゃんとずっと一緒にいられましたよ。なみちゃんも、とっても穏やかそうにみえました！

On the air conditioner / エアコンの上。

Namihei basically does whatever she wants to do and doesn't listen to me. When she gets angry, she takes it out on me.
These days, when she faces something she doesn't like, she always goes up to the air conditioner and looks down on me from the top of the air conditioner. I'm sure she knows this is where I cannot reach and that's why she goes there. When I keep calling her, she doesn't come down. If I ignore her, she comes down and try to get attention from me.
I don't want her to goes to the air conditioner, because there must be lots of dust there and it's not good for her health. I should think of something which attracts Namihei enough!

波平は、基本的にやりたいことをやり、私の言うことは聞きません。そして、怒った時は、私に八つ当たりします。
このところ、なにか気に食わないことがあると、すぐエアコンの上に飛んで行って、私のことを見下ろすわけです。
なみちゃん、ここだと私が届かないということを、ちゃんとわかっているんでしょうね。だから、ここに飛んで行くわけです。
呼び続けると、なかなか下りてきませんが、無視すると、私のところに飛んできて、注意を引こうとするんです。
エアコンのところには、できれば行ってほしくありません。だって、きっと埃がたくさんたまっていそうですから、なみちゃんの健康に悪影響がありそうですよね。もっとなみちゃんが興味を示してくれるものを、考えないといけませんね。

Another moulting period? / また換羽？

I still notice that Namihei sometimes picks up her feathers while she is grooming herself. I'm not sure if it's on purpose though.
I also notice that there are some new feathers around her face. It means she is facing another moulting period?!
There are several things I worry about. First, her poo is very watery when she is sleeping. Her appetite is enormous. She gets excited easily.
I hope she will be okay and if I see another sign for moulting, I'll give her special vitamins for moulting again. It's very important to take action early!

波平、羽繕いしている最中に、いまだにピッと羽毛を抜いていることがあります。これ、わざとなのかがわかりません。
それから、顔周りに新しい羽がツクツクしていることにも気づきました。もしかして、また換羽が始まるんでしょうか？
いくつか気になっていることがあるんです。まずは、なみちゃんのフン。寝ている間にしているフンは、下痢っぽい状態のものが多いです。食欲も拍車がかかってます。さらに、すぐに興奮状態になります。
なみちゃん、何ともないといいのですが。もしまた換羽のサインを見かけたら、換羽用のビタミン剤に切り替えようと思います。こういうときは、早めの対策が大切ですよね。

Sneeze / くしゃみ

Last night Namihei sneezed several times and her snivel came to my face! Yes, she always comes to my face when she sneezes, and I believe she does it deliberately.
It's getting a bit chill, so we have to be careful not to catch a cold. I let her sleep early and she looked fine today.
Today I joined the workshop at photography school and took photos of some cakes. Well, I ate two cakes there. As for Namihei, she also wants to eat more, but I cannot let her. Poor Namihei, she is always looking for something to eat when she is out of her cage. I need to distract her from foods.

 昨晩、何度か波平がくしゃみをしていました。そして鼻水が私の顔を直撃。くしゃみするときは、いつも私の顔のそばにいるんですよね。これって、絶対わざとですよね。
最近涼しくなってきたので、風邪をひかないよう気をつけなければいけません。なみちゃんは、昨日は早く寝かせたのですが、今日はくしゃみせずに元気にしていました。
私はといえば、今日は写真教室のワークショップに参加し、ケーキを撮影しました。撮影後、2個も平らげてしまったんですけど、なみちゃんは食事制限です。かわいそうななみちゃん、放鳥時はいつも食べるものを探しています。食べ物から気を紛らわせるようにしないといけませんね。

Sweet nothings / 愛のささやき

Recently Namihei sings very softly, which I had never heard before. Well, according to the book I have, it means "sweet nothings" and a budgie is saying "I love you".
Okay, then finally Namihei has accepted me and shows how much she loves me?! Apparently, not. After she sings softly, she usually bites me. So I rather feel that it's a trap to lure me.
Of course, it's so lovely to see her singing softly though. Anyway, I just have to be careful with her as usual. She may demand more seeds or something else!

波平、最近優しいさえずりをよくします。今までこんなさえずり、聞いたことなかったのですが。私の手元にある本によれば、これは愛のささやきで、「愛してるよ」と伝えようとしているのだということ。
それじゃあ、なみちゃんもとうとう私という存在を受け入れ、好きになってくれたということなんでしょうか。残念ながら違うようです。だって、優しいさえずりの後、噛みつくという悲劇が待ってますから。だから、これ、むしろおびき寄せる作戦なんじゃないかと思ってるわけです。もちろん、優しくさえずる姿を見ると癒されますけどね。ただ、やっぱりなみちゃんには気をつけなければいけません。もっとシードとか何かが欲しいと要求してくるかもしれませんから！

Please Sir I want some more. / おかわりがほしいよ。

Last night I went to my photography school after work, so I couldn't play with Namihei. The exhibition at school finally started and guess what, I also exhibits one of the Namihei photos there! Namihei is doing well, but there is one problem... that's her appetite. She nearly finishes the bowl in the morning which is supposed to be for all day. She always looks for something to eat when she is out of her cage. I wish I could give her more, but she has gained weight and I cannot let her fat anymore!

なみちゃんは、元気いっぱいなので安心なのですが、問題は止まらない食欲です。１日分のごはんを、朝だけでほぼ食べ終えてしまうという食べっぷり。放鳥時は常に食べる子のを探している感じだし、本当はもっとあげたいのですが、すでにずいぶん太ってしまったんですよね。だから、これ以上太っちょにさせるわけにはいかないのです！

Go back home / 家に帰る。

I have a question. For Namihei, where is exactly her house? She mostly stays in a cage and sleeps there as well.
When I'm at home, her cage is in my room. When I'm away from home, I usually put her cage in the living room.
So I say Namihei usually stays in my room regardless of whether or not she is in the cage.
Well, I feel that Namihei thinks my room is her house.
When I come back home and meet her in the living room, she always shows that she wants to get out of her cage. Once I let her out, she goes to my room. And of course, she calls me to come to the room too!

 気になること。波平はいったい、どこが自分の家だと思っているのでしょうか。なみちゃんは、ケージの中で過ごすのがほとんどで、もちろん、寝る時もケージの中です。
私が在宅していれば、私の部屋に。留守中はリビングにケージを置いています。というわけで、ケージの中にいるいないは別として、私の部屋にいることがほとんどでしょうか。
なみちゃん、どうやら私の部屋が自分のお家だと思っている気がするんです。
帰宅して、リビングでなみちゃんに挨拶すると、すぐに出せ出せアピールが始まります。外に出してあげれば、すぐに私の部屋に飛んでいくんですよね。そしてもちろん、私にも戻ってくるように呼び鳴きをします！

Everything is new. / すべてが新しい。

It always takes time for Namihei to get used to something new. Actually I also don't like to change things.
Yesterday I went to the pet shop where I had welcomed Namihei. They sell their original mixed seeds and I needed some for Namihei. Well, one of the shop staff came to me and told me they had stopped offering the seeds. We recently faced the change of the pellets! I decided to order the one which he recommended. Hmm... I hope Namihei will like it though.
I think the moulting period was finally over and now she tends to stick to me. It's always nice to have got a response when I call her!

波平は、新しいものに慣れるのに時間がかかります。私自身、何かが変わるっていうことがあまり得意ではありません。
昨日、なみちゃんをお迎えしたペットショップに行ってきました。そこではオリジナルのシードを量り売りしています。なみちゃんのストックがなくなりそうだったので、買いに行ったのですが、店員さんに販売をやめたと言われて大ショック。ペレットだって、最近改良とやらで全く異なるものになっていて慌てていたのに。結局、店員さんに勧められたブランドのシードを買うことに決めました。なみちゃんが気に入ってくれるといいのですが。
換羽もようやく終わったような気がします。最近は、やたらとくっついてくるんですよ、なみちゃん。呼んだときにちゃんと反応があるのって、いいですね！

Namihei wants to ear more. / 波平、もっと食べたい。

Namihei eats a lot. She doesn't like pellets very much, but since I started giving her the new pellets, she has eaten them well. To be honest, the smell is not so good comparing to the previous one, but it seems that Namihei prefers the current one. She doesn't put them on the edge of the meal box anymore. When she gets out from her cage, I usually give her some, and she eats all of them quickly.
She has gained weight these days and I should let her keep her weight from now on.
Well, she picked her feathers while I was away from home today. Does she need constant attention from me?!

波平はたくさん食べます。ペレットはそれほど好きではないのですが、新しいペレットをあげ始めて以来、よく食べるようになりました。この新しいバージョン、じつは臭いがちょっとキツイんですけど、波平はこちらの方がお好みのようです。もうえさ箱のフチに並べたりしませんからね。放鳥時にもこのペレットを少しあげるようにしてるのですが、すぐに食べ終わっちゃいます！
体重も増え始め、これ以上は増えないように気をつけなければいけません。
そういえば、今日も留守中に毛引きをしていたようなんです。なみちゃん、いつも私に見守ってほしいのでしょうか？！

The moulting period again / やっぱりまた換羽。

Unfortunately I must admit that Namihei is facing moulting again. When I woke her up this morning, I saw several feathers left on the floor.
When I came back from work, I also saw some feathers on the floor.
I'm worried about Namihei so much, as moulting must consume lots of energy. A couple of nights ago, I had a strange dream. In the dream, Namihei was bald, and I was really shocked and was going to take her to the vet.
Anyway, I'll try to let her enjoy the sunshine and give her enough vitamins.
Tonight, she also had a bath!

残念ながら、やっぱりまた換羽が始まったようです。今朝、波平を起こした時、羽が数枚ケージの床に落ちていました。
そして、仕事から帰宅すると、また数枚抜けていたようです。
換羽って、とっても体力を消耗するので、なみちゃんのことが心配です。
数日前の夜、変な夢を見たんです。なみちゃんがまったく毛がない状態になっていて、驚いた私はなみちゃんを病院へ連れていくところでした。
とにかく、なるべく日光浴もさせて、必要なビタミンをあげることが大切ですね。
今夜は水浴びもしましたよ！

Still moulting? / まだ換羽中？

I thought that the moulting had been finally over, but I was wrong.
When I came back home from work, I found a quite big feather left on the floor in Namihei's cage.
Namihei looked fine and was so energetic as usual, so it wouldn't be a big problem though.
I was thinking about stopping giving her the special supplement for moulting, but maybe it's better to keep giving it to her for a while.
By the way, I don't need to mix dried sardines with pellets anymore. Namihei can eat dried sardines without problems!

もう換羽は終わったとばかり思っていたのですが、なんとまだでした。
今日、仕事から戻ってくると、わりと大きめの羽がケージの床に落ちてたんです。
波平は調子良さそうでしたし、いつも通り元気だったので、さほど問題ではないと思っているのですが。
そろそろ換羽時期用のビタミン剤、ネクトンBioをやめようかと考えていたのですが、もうしばらく続けていたほうが良さそうですね。
そういえば、もう煮干しを食べてもらうために、ペレットとミックスする必要はなくなりました。なみちゃん、問題なく煮干しパウダーをパクパク食べております！
