Like father, like son /

Who is this lovebird? This was Ponta, who spent 16 years with me.
When I was a kid, I asked my dad to have a cockatiel. One day he brought this lovebird instead. It was the first time for me to see a lovebird at that time, so I was so shocked and disappointed with saying "It's not a cokatiel. This one looks weird."
You know it didn't take time for us to get along together.
My dad loved birds very much and because of him, there were always some companion birds in our house. We had budgies, java sparrows, Japanese quails, and even chickens (in Tokyo)!
Ponta was a girl, but got a boy's name. Besides it sounded a raccoon dog. Well, he named it, by the way, and I always said he didn't have a good sense of naming.
After years of death of Ponta, I welcomed Namihei (it was the first time for me to welcome a bird by myself). She was a girl and got a boy's name. Yes, I did name her. Like father, like son. It's absolutely true!
The 2nd photo was taken by my dad. You can tell how much he loved birds.
He passed away after fighting cancer. It was after we welcomed Namihei, but he didn't have chance to play with her.

I don't know why, but my first budgie was a girl and had also boys name Petya. My parents gave this name. In my family, parents also taught me to love birds. I love how you describe your family. You are so good person!
