The Gleaner / 落ち穂拾い

When the moulting period comes, Namihei is grumpy and busy with grooming. As for me, there is one thing I'm always looking forward to. It's picking up dropped feathers. Well, I collect beautiful ones in bottles, though I'm not so sure what to do with them yet. Since I saw many budgie keepers collect and keep the feathers, I also wanted to do the same thing!
When I see dropped feathers in the floor of her cage, I get so excited and pick them up quickly. You know, Namihei may drop her poo on them!
I don't want her to have the moulting period for a long time, because it consumes her energies a lot, but I'd like to enjoy the period as a gleaner.

 換羽の時期がくると、波平はイライラし、毛づくろいに専念します。飼い主はといえば、楽しみにしていることが１つ。それは、落ちた羽を拾うこと。キレイなものは集めて、瓶に入れて保管しています。これをどうするのかということは、決めてないんですけどね。インコ愛好家の方々がよく愛鳥の羽をきれいな小瓶などに集めているのを見て、私もマネしたくなったわけです。
ケージの床に落ちた羽を見つけると、テンション上がった飼い主は急いで拾います。だって、なみちゃんがフンでも落としたら大変ですもんね。
換羽は非常に体力を消耗するので、なみちゃんには長期間続いてほしくはないのですが、私は換羽の間だけは、落ち穂拾いならぬ落ち羽拾いを楽しみたいと思います。
