Namihei Chocolate / 波平チロル

I ordered Namihei chocolate a couple of weeks ago and it finally arrived. What's Namihei chocolate? Well, it's just milk chocolate, but wrapped by Namihei photo paper. So no worries, you won't taste Namihei with this chocolate! She isn't involved in the ingredients at all.
I shared some with my colleagues yesterday and everyone looked happy! I've heard that we can make original one with Kit Kat too, so I want to try it next time.
As for Namihei, I wasn't able to play with her last night, because I was late with overtime work. It seems I always miss my precious time with her every Friday...

数週間前、波平オリジナル、チロルチョコをオーダーしたのですが、ようやく到着しました。波平チロル。味はミルクチョコで、波平エキスは全く入っていないのでご安心を！単に包み紙になみちゃんの写真が使われている、ということです。
昨日、職場で同僚にお配りしたのですが、なかなか好評でした。キットカットでもオリジナルのものが作れると聞いたので、今度作ってみたいと思います。
さて、波平はといえば、昨晩はまたまた残業で夜は放鳥してあげることができませんでした。どうも金曜日はいつも残業になってしまって、なみちゃんと遊ぶことができないような気がします。

Happy First Anniversary / 祝１周年

I started this Namihei blog last year on this day. The first photo is Namihei when I started the blog. She came to my house in October, 2014.
Well, it took a bit time to get along with her and I even regretted to welcome her for a while, to be honest. Now, of course, I'm happy with her and always want to be with her!

There are 323 posts published including this one. You know what? The first post was reviewed only twice... but now the blog has got over 10,000 viewers!
The most popular post is "Namihei on the shoulder". The country which has the most viewers is, of course, Japan, followed by United States, Russia, Ukraine, Taiwan, Italy, Australia, Greece, Germany and India.

昨年の今日、この波平ブログを始めました。最初の写真は、ちょうどブログを始めた頃の波平です。なみちゃんが我が家にやってきたのは2014年の10月。仲良くなるのに時間がかかり、じつは、「なみちゃんなんてお迎えしなきゃよかった」と本気で一時期思ったこともありました。
今じゃかけがえのない存在で、これからもずっとに一緒にいたいです。
この記事を含めて全部で投稿数は323。一番最初の記事のビューワー数は、なんと２回。それが今では１万を超える数になったのですから、ありがたいです。
一番人気だった記事は、7月3日に投稿された、『肩の上のナミ』でした。ビューワー数の最も多い国は、もちろん日本。その次に、アメリカ、ロシア、ウクライナ、台湾、イタリア、オーストラリア、ギリシャ、ドイツ、インドと続きます。
これからも頑張って楽しい記事を書きますが、正直もうお腹いっぱいという方、ウェブサイトもありますよ。こちらでは、波平以外の写真なども載せています。

Namihei Satisfaction / 波平満足度

I've noticed one thing about Namihei. When she is satisfied outside, she goes back to her cage without argument. She is very reasonable after enjoying staying outside for a certain time. I would say it must be about a couple of hours.
In that case, once I open her cage, she will go back inside it.
So I always have to think of her satisfaction, I suppose.
Last night she wanted to go back to her cage earlier. She insisted to go back with trying to open the entrance! Well, the reason why she wanted to go back was to have more seeds. Her appetite was enormous last night...

波平について気がついたこと。お外で満足すれば、素直にケージに戻っていくということ。ある一定時間、お外で楽しく遊べば、なみちゃんは聞き分けの良い子なんですね。ケージを開ければ、すぐに入ってくれます。その一定時間とは、ずばり２時間くらいでしょうか。
そんなわけで、波平満足度は常に気にしなければいけないバロメーターということですね。
昨晩、なみちゃんは早めにケージに戻りたがったんです。もう、入口をくちばしで無理やり開けようとするほどの本気度（笑）でした。ただ、戻りたかった理由が、外にシードを食べ尽くしたので、ケージの中のものが食べたかっただけのこと。昨晩のなみちゃんの食欲といったら、それはすごかったんですよ…。

Watch Out for Moulting / 換羽に気をつけろ

Namihei is having a moulting period now. It surely disturbs her a lot, as she always grooms frequently.  And yes, she often drops her feathers. When I find clean ones, I pick them up and put them into the bottle for Namihei collection.
Well, I'm a bit worried about her, to be honest. If I remember correctly, I took her to a bird clinic for the first time this time last year. She had a moulting period at that time too. I'll try to do my best to watch her carefully and hope she doesn't need to visit a vet this time!
By the way, My sleep was disturbed by her swing sound again... I must to do something.

波平は、再び換羽期間を迎えています。換羽って、やっぱり気持ちのいいものではないんでしょうね。なみちゃんは常に羽繕いに励んでいます。そしてもちろん、羽もよく抜けてますよ。きれいなものは、拾って、瓶に保管しています。波平コレクションですね！
今、心配しているのが、なみちゃんの体調です。昨年の今頃、初めて小鳥クリニックを訪れたんですよね。あの時も、やっぱり換羽中だったと記憶しています。
今回は細心の注意を払って、なみちゃんがクリニックのお世話にならなくても大丈夫なように頑張りたいと思います。
ところで、またしてもなみちゃんのブランコで睡眠障害です。こちらも何とかしなければいけませんね…。

A Swing in the Midnight / 真夜中のブランコ

I'm wondering how much and how long budgies sleep every day. Do they sleep deeply?! Perhaps not, because they need to protect themselves against their enemies.
Well, I share my room with Namihei and I put her cage near my bed so that I can notice if something happens to her.
A couple of nights ago, I couldn't sleep well, because of her. You know what, she was playing on the swing! At first, I thought something wrong and I turned on the light and turned up the cover on the cage. She stared at me like saying "what?". We started each other for a while and then I got back to sleep (though I couldn't sleep, because she kept playing on the swing...).
I hope she won't disturb my sleep tonight!

インコちゃんたちは日々どれくらい眠るんでしょうか。深い眠りにつくことはあるんでしょうか。たぶん、敵から身を守るという習性上、眠りは浅いんでしょうね。
私は波平と一緒に部屋で眠っているのですが、なみちゃんのケージはベッドのそばに置いています。こうすれば、何かあってもすぐに気づけますからね。
ところが数日前の夜、なみちゃんのせいでよく眠れなかったんです。なみちゃん、夜中にブランコで遊んでたんですよ…。最初は物音に、何かあったのかと思って、明りをつけて、ケージのお休みカバーをめくったんです。なみちゃんに、「何？」という顔でにらまれてしまいました。そしてしばらく、にらみ合いが続き（笑）、私は眠りの世界に戻りたかったのですが、なみちゃんのブランコ騒音が続いて眠れず。
今夜はブランコで遊ぶのやめてほしいですね！

Namihei Blog / 波平ブログ

It will be one year soon since I started this Namihei blog. Well, I'd like to say thank you so much here now, as the blog has already got over 10,000 viewers. When I posted the first entry, only a couple of my friends visited it. And now it seems that I've got some people who enjoy my writing.
When I was a student, I wanted to become a writer, but some people laughed at my dream and then I just gave it up. At work, my Japanese writing wasn't so impressive and it was always corrected by a red pen... soon I don't need to use Japanese anymore and English is always my free language since then. This and Namihei gave me an opportunity to start this blog. Indeed,  everything happens for a reason!
Namihei is facing a new moulting period now, so I'll be nicer to her from now on.

この波平ブログを始めてもうすぐ１年経つのですが、すでにビューワー数が１万を超えました。いつも読んでくださっている方、たまたま通りかかった方、どうもありがとうございます。初めて記事を投稿したときは、私の友人２人が見ただけだったんですよ（笑）。今は、ファンになってくれた方が多少なりともいると信じています！
学生の頃、文章を書く仕事がしたいと思っていましたが、周りの大人に笑われて、あきらめてしまったことがあります。そして仕事では、やっぱり日本語を赤ペンで毎日のように修正される日が続き、今ではなんと日本語を使わなくてもよい部署で働いています。でも、こうした逆境と、波平との出会いがきっかけでこのブログを始められたわけですよね。まさに、すべての出来事には意味がある、ということです。
なみちゃんはというと、換羽がスタートしましたよ。これからは、さらに優しく接しようと思います。

Atonement / つぐない

Yesterday I had a busy day at work again and I came back after 9 o'clock, which meant Namihei had already been sleeping. She was sleeping on a swing and once she recognised me, she came to me. She is so lovely.
Well, since I wasn't able to play with her last night, I'm going to stay at home all day today so that I can be with her.
But I shouldn't let her out in the living room. The other day, she made a mess there. She threw out spoons put in a dish drainer basket and spilt water on the table. I had to clean up everything after she slept!
She can be so aggressive, so I really have to be careful with her...

昨日は仕事が忙しく、帰宅したのは波平がすでに寝てしまった９時過ぎでした。なみちゃん、ブランコの上で眠ってたのですが、私に気づくと、寄ってきましたよ。こんな時は、本当に愛らしいと思います。
昨晩は一緒に遊んであげられなかったので、今日は１日ずっと家にいようと決めました！もちろん、なみちゃんと一緒にいるつもりですよ。でも、リビングで放鳥するのはやめておきます。先日、水切り籠にあったスプーンを何本も投げ捨てたり、テーブルで水をこぼしたりと、大暴れしてくれました。なみちゃんが寝た後に私が後片付けしたんですよ！
なみちゃんって、たまにキレることがあるので、気をつけないといけませんね。

A Charming Budgie / かわいいインコ

I've got a lovely comment on Instagram, where I post Namihei photos every day.
"I love Namihei, she is one of my favourite budgies of Instagram and the captions are often entertaining :-)"
I'm so glad to have such a positive comment on my captions, not Namihei. I always try to think of funny or witty ones! Besides I was lazy to put captions in Japanese, but I started doing that from this year.
I hope this young lady will make people feel happy with her entertaining photos. And Namihei, please don't attack me, as you hurts me seriously!

インスタグラムでは毎日、波平の写真をアップしているのですが、そこで素敵なコメントをいただきました。訳してみると、「波平が大好きです。インスタグラムのインコの中でもお気に入りです。キャプションもおもしろいのがよくあります」といったところでしょうか。
なみちゃんに対してではなく、私はキャプションに関しての褒め言葉がうれしかったですね。というのも、ユーモアに富んだののをいつも考えようと頑張っているんですよ。しかも、今まで面倒で日本語ではキャプションを入れてなかったのですが、今年から入れるようにしました！
波平お嬢ちゃまが、これからもおもしろ写真でみんなをハッピーにしてあげられるといいのですが。そして、もうこれ以上私のことを攻撃しないでちょうだいね、なみちゃん。本当に痛いんですよ～！

A Weird Year / 変な年

I've heard about an interesting app, which gives you a word or message for this year to suite your name. Of course, it's for fun and nothing is so serious though.
But... when I applied my budgie's nickname, "Nami-chan", it showed "A weird year". I've seen so many good phrases in Instagram though. Why has she got such a strange one!?
Well, at least it didn't say "A weird bird", so we should accept this one, I suppose.
Namihei is doing well and she is less aggressive now, so I don't need to protect my hands!

先日、「書き初めメーカー」なるアプリの存在を知り、早速試してみました。何でも、このアプリ、名前を入れるとその人の新年の書き初めを表示してくれるそうなんです。
波平のことは、普段から「なみちゃん」と呼ぶことが多いので、「なみちゃん」と入力してみました。すると、出てきたのはなんと、「変な年」。変な年って、なんでそんな言葉が出てくるんだか。インスタグラムで他の写真を見た時は、どれも結構いい言葉だったのに…。
まあ、「変な鳥」と言われなかっただけマシですかね（笑）。
なみちゃんは元気にしています。そして、攻撃性も薄らいできたので、私も自分の手を守らなくて良くなりました！

Because I am a girl. / だって女の子だから。

It was a freezing day here in Tokyo yesterday, but it seemed that Namihei was doing well. Last weekend I bought a bath for her. Yes, it is the special one for budgies!
I poured some water and put it in my room last night. Then she started bathing inside and she looked so awkward, because the bath was a bit small for her size.
Anyway, I hope she won't catch a cold. She wanted to have a bath, because she wanted to clean herself?! Well, I'm thinking... she wanted to have a bath, because her moulting period was about to start. I must take a special care of her condition, as it's so easy to get sick during moulting period.

昨日の東京は、冷え込んだ１日でした。そんな中、波平は元気いっぱいのようです。先週末に、なみちゃんようのお風呂を買ったのですが、これ、ちゃんとインコ専用のものなんですよ。
お水を入れて、部屋に置いてみると、なみちゃん、早速水浴びを始めました。その姿が、どうも滑稽に見えてしまったのは、おそらくお風呂がなみちゃんのサイズにはちょっと小さかったからですね。
それにしても、風邪などひかないといいのですが。こんな寒い中、おめかしのために水風呂に入ったんでしょうか。いや、おそらくこれ、また換羽がスタートするサインだと思われます。換羽中は体調を崩しやすいのので、私も気をつけて見守っていかなければいけませんね。

Happy Day / 幸せな１日

It was snowing here in Tokyo yesterday and I was like a sardine in the packed train. Then I was walking like an awkward penguin to my office. It was really freezing and my socks got soaked. So I was working without socks in the morning. Poor me! Meanwhile Namihei was having a lovely day with a pet heater in the warm room at home, I suppose. Why? Because she was in a good mood when I came back home though I was late. We enjoyed playing hide-and-seek and singing a strange made-up song together. What a lovely day!

昨日、東京では雪に見舞われ、電車では缶詰のイワシ状態になり、職場まで歩く際は、ぎこちないペンギンウォークになっていました。とっても寒くて、しかも靴下はびしょびしょ。そんなわけで午前中は裸足で仕事に打ち込んでました（笑）。
その頃、波平はといえば、ペットヒーターが完備されたヌクヌクのお部屋で気持ち良く過ごしていた、と思われます。
というのも、残業で帰宅が遅くなったにも関わらず、ご機嫌だったんですよね、なみちゃん。一緒にかくれんぼをして（波平が隠れた私をひたすら探すのみ）、即興で作った変な歌を一緒に口ずさんだりして、楽しい夜のひと時を過ごしました。

Go on a Diet! / ダイエット開始！

It seems that Namihei has decided to go on a diet. She is very active now!
I've also got advice on budgie diet. Have you ever heard of "orchard grass seeds"? They're good for budgies who need to lose weight.
Last Saturday I went to a bird shop and bought some. And then I gave it to her. Guess what, she loved it! She kept eating it obsessively and I was so surprised by her appetite.
By the way, I also bought some toys for her, but none of them caught her interest, unfortunately. Oh well, it always takes time for her to develop a taste for new things. I shall wait for a bit patiently.

波平、ようやくダイエットに専念しようと思ったようです。とってもアクティブに動いてますよ！
インコのダイエットに関して、私もアドバイスをもらいました。オーチャードグラスというのをご存知でしょうか？それがどうやら、ダイエットが必要なインコに良いそうなんです。
さっそく、先週土曜日にショップで量り売りのものをちょこっと購入しました。そして、なみちゃんにあげてみると、どうやらお気に召したようです。狂ったようにがっついてました。なみちゃんのこの貪欲な食欲に驚きを隠せない飼い主（笑）。
そういえば、いくつかおもちゃも買ったんですよ。でも、残念ながらどれもお気に召さなかったようです。なみちゃん、新しいものが好きになるにはいつも時間かかってましたよね。だから、飼い主は気長に待とうと思います！

You're under arrest! / 波平、現行犯逮捕。

Namihei has behaved badly these days and she does whatever she wants. Well, it's time to teach her a lesson, I suppose. She was enjoyed invading my bookshelf though I told her not to play there again and again. So I grabbed Namihei! She doesn't like to be grabbed, so I only do it when I have to give her medicine or cut her nails.
She didn't try to escape, but kept moaning. It was your fault though, Namihei. Yes, you're under arrest!

このところ波平はお行儀が悪く、やりたい放題といった感じです。そんなわけで、そろそろ叱らなければいけない時期にきたかな、と思ったわけです。本棚で遊んじゃダメと何度も言っているのに、本棚侵入ゲームを楽しんでいるなみちゃん。なので、なみちゃんを掴みました！
なみちゃんは掴まれるのがキライなので、お薬をあげるときや、爪を切らなければいけない時にしか掴みません。
逃げようとはしませんでしたが、低い声でずっとうなっていました。でも、これ自業自得ですよ。なみちゃん、現行犯逮捕です！

Miss Moody / ご機嫌ななめちゃん

Recently Namihei is quite aggressive and poor my hands... they're always her victims. Well, I noticed that her cere has turned brown. Yes, she is a girl budgie, and finally she is growing up? And this is why she is so moody?
Anyway, now I have to be careful, because I don't want her to lay eggs. She hasn't got a partner, so I don't want her to consume lots of energy for that.
It's also getting cold here in Tokyo too. When she is out of her cage, she sometimes keeps sneezing. (Her water always comes to my face!) Now Namihei needs lots of care, I suppose.

この頃、波平はかなり暴力的で、かわいそうな私の両手はなみちゃんの餌食に。なみちゃんのろう膜が、茶色くなってきているんです。なみちゃんもこれでようやく大人女子、というわけですが、この発情のせいで機嫌が悪いのでしょうか？
いずれにしても、卵は産んで欲しくないので、気をつけなければいけませんね。なみちゃんは一羽飼いで、パートナーはいないので、発情することで無駄に体力を消耗して欲しくないんです。
それから、東京も最近ぐっと冷え込んできました。なみちゃんも放鳥時は、よくくしゃみを連発してます。そして鼻水は必ず私の顔面に直撃するんです。さあ、今はしっかりなみちゃんのお世話をしなければいけませんね！

Where is the food? / 食べ物はどこ？

I feed Namihei twice a day, in the morning and evening so that she shouldn't eat all of the seeds in the morning. Since I'm super busy at work, I have asked my mum to feed her in the evening these days.
Well, I was able to come back early enough yesterday and checked her meal box. I was shocked... why? Because it was nearly empty! Even she has eaten all of the seeds, their shells must be there. Hmm... I don't know what happened, but she scattered them around her cage!
Namihei, do you know how many times I hoover everywhere you made a mess?! Please behave like a proper lady!

なみちゃんのご飯は１日２回、朝晩に分けてあげています。こうすれば、午前中に１日分ぜんぶ平らげてしまって、夜はひもじい思いをする、なんてことはないですからね。
最近は仕事が忙しく、夜のご飯は母親に任せているのですが、昨日は久々に早く帰宅できたので、さっそくなみちゃんのえさ箱チェック。そして絶句…。なんと、えさ箱がほぼ空だったんです。全部食べてたとしても、シードの殻が残っているはずなのに。何が起こったのかわかりませんが、ケージの周りに、なみちゃんがまき散らしたと思われるシードの残骸が…。
なみちゃんのために、１日何回私が掃除機かけてるか、知ってますか？！なみちゃん、少しは女の子らしく振る舞ってくださいね！

Don't move! / 動かないで！

These days it's not easy to take photos of Namihei. Why? Because she comes over to me once she sees me with my camera. Well, I can't get angry with her though. She looks very happy to see me and dashes to me in a happy way. Sometimes she wants to stay on my shoulder.
Actually, such things happen when I clean up her cage. She wants to stick to me and hangs around the cage.
Well, when she is obsessed with the bookshelf in my room, that's another story though. Once she is into it, she is trying to break in and she doesn't care where I am! I do my best to protect my precious bookshelf from her, but so far she is quite successful to sneak inside it!

この頃、波平の写真を撮るのがちょっと難しくなってきました。というのも、カメラと私を見るなり、なみちゃんがこっちに来てしまうんです。しかも、うれしそうにトコトコ寄って来られたら、怒れませんよねぇ。
さらに、肩にちょこんと乗ってくるときもあるんですよ。
こういうこと、じつは写真を撮る時以外にもあるんです。なみちゃんのケージを掃除しようとすると、なみちゃんが私からくっついて離れなかったり、ケージ付近をうろうろしてみたり。ところが、部屋にある本棚に気をとられた時は、話は別です。本棚が気になってしまったら最後、もう中に入ることに必死になってしまって、私がどこにいようがお構いなし。大切な本棚をなみちゃんから守る努力はしているものの、なみちゃんのほうが一枚上手なのか、いつもこっそり入ってしまうんですよね。

A Peaceful Day / 平穏な１日

Yesterday it was a national holiday in Japan and I stayed at home all day, because I was so exhausted! Sometimes it's important to have a lazy day, I suppose.
Since the weather was lovely, Namihei and I stayed near the balcony so that we could enjoy the sunshine. She was taking a nap and I was reading a novel. I occasionally called her and then she responded to my calling.
I think she feels safe and comfortable when she finds me around her. When I leave for the loo or somewhere else, sometimes she starts calling me hysterically. So I know she trusts me enough, but she never stops attacking my hands. What have they done to her?!

昨日は成人の日で祝日でしたね。私は先週の仕事でヘトヘトだったので、１日中家で過ごしました。たまにはぐうたらで過ごす休日がないと、体がもちません。
お天気は良かったので、私と波平はベランダ近くを陣取り、日向ぼっこです。なみちゃんは居眠り、私は読書して過ごしました。たまになみちゃんのことを呼ぶと、「ヒヨ」ってかわいらしい声で反応するんですよ。
私が近くにいると、なみちゃんは安心するんだなって思います。トイレやどこか別の場所に行くためにそばを離れたとたん、狂ったように呼び鳴きを始めることがあります。だから、なみちゃんは私のことをとっても信頼しているはずなのですが、手への攻撃が止むことはありません！私の手に何か恨みでもあるんですかね、なみちゃん…。
